WELCOME TO THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITIES OF
“Bread of Life”
In our Gospel today we continue the Bread of Life
theme and our first reading compliant the theme.
Jesus states very clearly, “I am the bread of life.” In
the first reading we are reminded of how Elijah was
running from Jezebel’s attempts to kill him and in
that effort he became exhausted and needs what the
Lord gives, namely a hearth cake and a jug of water
in order to continue his escape.
There are many times when we become exhausted
with the efforts of life and we are not even conscious
that we need to receive the love of the Lord or that
we need Eucharist. We are exhausted and connote
think things through and are not able to even under-
stand what trouble we are in. In the case of Elijah
God knew of his need and sent the needed nourish-
ment.
Jesus in giving us his continuous presence left us with
the nourishment that allows us to have the energy,
the stamina, the spiritual will to survive the turmoil
that comes to us from our encounters of misunder-
standings, deliberate personal attacks, our own sins,
the faith attacks and all the rest of what comes to us.
Often we need the habit of receiving Eucharist as our
DAILY and continuous food because we simply are
not able to know when it is most needed.

Centennial Celebration & Exhibit 1915-2015 The Centennial year is an opportunity for giving thanks. The friars have chosen to
make the centerpiece of the celebration a traveling exhibition that highlights the
major movements, milestones, lives and stories of the friars who have played their
part in the remarkable story of the Province of St. Barbara. Through words, images,
and tangible artifacts, the exhibit gives voice to a living tradition of Franciscan life
and ministry
Join us as we celebrate together 100 years of Prayer, Fraternity, Joy, and Service.
