Happy Birthday to Our Blessed Mother on Sept.8th! Happy Feast Day to St. Padre Pio on Sept.23rd! The highest praise we can give them is imitation! St. Pio proclaimed the way to become close to Jesus is through Mary. His last words he said on this earth on Sept.23, 1968 was Gesu and Maria. He raised the awareness of the marvelous harmony between prayer and action. It is so wonderfully present among the members of the Prayer Groups. Other representatives of the Church and the Local Churches have seen and praised God for the good the Prayer Groups of Padre Pio are doing as they fulfill their promises to be faithful spiritual children of Padre Pio. Let us not lose sight of all the good God can do and is doing through us. The more we strive to work together sharing our time-‐talents-‐treasures, and seek to grow in grace by faithfully living as Jesus’ words direct and our Baptismal Promises pledge, the more will we make an impact for Christ in our world. The key is ‘for Christ’ not for ‘me-‐myself-‐I’. Let us open our eyes to see, our hearts to embrace everyone as companions on the journey. Not only to ‘our own’ but also to others may we be a sign of hope, encouragement and affirmation, that those who encounter us may see the face and love of Jesus who closed Himself to no one who came to Him and was always ready and willing to respond to the needs of others. The pilgrims who made the pilgrimage to Washington, NJ witnessed this first hand. When we are all gathered to love and worship God, we became truly brothers and sisters. There were no strangers; we were all family. Let us never forget that spiritual growth of the inner person is always apparent by the love, concern, and openness we have for persons whom, we encounter each day. May God Bless you, may Our Lady guide, guard, and protect you, and may Padre Pio watch over with loving care.

Spiritual Director’s Reflections
We are not excused from doing God’s Will, God’s Work in our daily life. We, who have been baptized into the Roman Catholic Church are required to do the God’s Will, God’s work for His Glory and the Salvation of Souls. We cannot say that we are too tired, too weak, too uneducated to do God’s Work on earth. The Holy One’s of God did it, the Saints; so must we. Yet, how many times do we give in to convincing ourselves that we cannot do God’s Will, God’s Work. That is way we must take time to restore ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, if we are to persevere in doing the Will and Work of God. Prayer; spiritual reading from the Sacred Scriptures and religious and theological works; participation in the Sacrament; retreats; and pilgrimages are the ways to recharge, reenergize ourselves to do God’s Will, God’s Work. On August 24 & 25, 2013, our diocesan St. Padre Pio Prayer Group went on a pilgrimage to the Blue Army Shrine, in Washington, New Jersey and to the St. Padre Pio Shrine in Bartos, Pennsylvania. The fifty-‐six pilgrims spent much time in prayer and reflection as we prayed the Rosary; attended Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction; and celebrated the Sacrifice of the Mass at the Blue Army Shrine. We also had some time to gather for a meal at Otto’s German House for a dinner and a talk from Joseph A. Trapani, who wrote a book about life of a man named Eublio Cardone, a man saved by Padre Pio. On Sunday, August 25th, we celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, in the Diocese of Allentown. We arrived at the Shrine of St. Padre Pio and listened to a fifteen minute film on St. Padre Pio done by the television show, Unsolved Mysteries, which told us about two miracles attributed to St. Padre Pio, one before he died and one miracle after he died. We were able to go into the Museum, the Gift Shop and the Chapel. At Noon we prayed the Rosary and our intentions were for our St. Padre Pio Prayer Group; for Joan Houlahan and Family; for our pilgrimage prayer partners; and for our own private petitions. At two o’clock we had to leave the Shrine to come home to Northfield, Ohio. Those who have mentioned to me about the pilgrimage have said that it was one of the best pilgrimages that they have ever attended. Lots of work went into the event, but our whole reason for the pilgrimage was to help us to give Glory to God and for the Salvation of Souls. It was never a vacation, but a pilgrimage. This past Monday, we celebrated Labor Day. A day in which our Nation rests from labor to give thanks to God for the opportunities to that our work gives us the ability to achieve Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. We also are reminded that the Work of God never ends. Every day we are to be ready, willing and able to do God’s Will, God’s Work. There is no vacation or rest from doing God’s Will, God’s Work. That rest will come when we are in the Eternal Jerusalem, Heaven; and that rest is eternal. This work can only be done if we ask Christ to stay with us. Yours in Christ, Fr. Edward J. Janoch
“Stay with me” ~St. Pio of Pietrelcina These are the words that were spoken by Padre Pio as he was receiving Holy Communion. He was asking his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to stay with him not just at that moment, but for the whole day. Padre Pio needed Him to help him all day in the work for the Glory of God and the Salvation of Souls. The work for Christ Jesus was daunting, difficult, and took much strength from Padre Pio to do, considering that he was weakened by the Stigmata, the Wounds of Christ that he bore for fifty years. Yet Padre Pio persevered and continued to do God’s Will, God’s Work, up to the very day he died.

Please Pray for Our Sick Brothers and Sisters
HEALING PRAYER Beloved Padre Pio, today I come to add my prayer to the thousands of prayers offered to you every day by those who love and venerate you. They ask for cures and healings, earthly and spiritual blessings, and peace for body and mind. And because of your friendship with the
Lord, he heals those you ask to be healed, and forgives those you forgive. Through your visible wounds of the Cross, which you bore for 50 years, you were chosen in
our time to glorify the crucified Jesus. Because the Cross has been replaced by other symbols, please help us to bring it back in our midst, for we acknowledge it is the
only true sign of salvation. As we lovingly recall the wounds that pierced your hands, feet and side, we not only remember the blood you shed in pain, but your smile, and the invisible halo of sweet
smelling flowers that surrounded your presence, the perfume of sanctity. Padre Pio, may the healings of the sick become the testimony that the Lord has invited you to join the holy company of Saints. In your kindness, please help me with my own special
request: (mention here your petition, and make the sign of the Cross). Bless me and my loved ones. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
