This year’s program will feature award presentations to the
2014 community service and volunteers of the year, as well as
the announcement of the 2015 Heritage Days Grand Marshal.
There will also be a silent auction, too.
A reminder to everyone that we know if you are going to attend the annual meeting on February 7th. We need a head count to give to the Nutcracker Cafe. You can send $15 per person to the chamber if you want (preferred) or pay at the door, just so they know how many to prepare for. There are no tickets, we will have a list of those paid
at the door at the meeting. Please attend and show your support!
Come Join the SACC raise funds at Captain's Bar and Grill every Satur-day in January from 3-5 for the Meat Raffle (a portion of the meat raffle
will be donated to the SACC) by the Glenwood Fire Department.
In a related item, the Starbuck VFW will let organizations run the
meat raffle on Saturdays and they receive all the proceeds minus
the cost of the meat. A good little fund raiser.

Google Analytics statistical information from the SACC website One of the e-marketing sessions sponsored by the chamber last fall focused on the power of Google Analytics for evaluating the use of websites. Cory Holten has summarized the chambers website activity since mid October
“961 total sessions coming from 807 different users a large majority of which are new users visiting the site for
the first time.
Average session duration is 1 minute and 22 seconds. On average a user is visiting 3-4 pages before moving
on, one possible idea would be to discuss ways to keep visitors looking at more pages. (How can we catch their
attention/keep it and hopefully, eventually lead them to the page we want?)
November was the highest month in terms of number of visitors although December was very close (likely re-
lated to the Holidays).
Since we started tracking the users have come from 92 different cities! The majority have been Starbuck, with
a high number coming from the cities as well. Cities such as Paynesville, Alexandria, Morris, Bemidji also
have been tracked. Visits also have come from locations on the East and West Coast along with various visits
from Texas users. We have even reached multiple countries including Canada, Brazil, Russia, Australia, Mex-
ico, and China. I tried including the map, but it wasn't working. Anyway, the site is showing its working! We
are reaching a wide variety of users and when you consider how fast things move on the internet today, spend-
ing a minute on our site isn't half bad. There's room for improvement, but it is definitely a start!

Ice Fishing Frenzy
Jan 24, 2015
This program is designed around ice fishing basics. Have you always wanted to try going ice fishing? Or maybe you just want to walkout on a frozen lake. Either way, come out to the park and enjoy an afternoon on Mountain Lake (1-3pm). We will look at ice fishing equipment and techniques, while trying to catch a fish through the ice. Our target species will be northern pike, sunfish, crappies, and perch. Please bring your own equipment and bait, as we do not have enough for everyone. Call Lake Carlos State Park(320) 852-7200 to register for this event. ***Important*** MN residents do not need a fishing license to fish in the State Park. Those requiring a valid fishing license, please remember to have it during the pro-gram. Refer to the Fishing Regulations book for rules and regulations regarding li-
censes.

Starbuck Volunteers
Thanks for
taking care
of Starbuck!
A comment made by a candidate for Starbuck city council during last fall’s chamber sponsored candidate forum seems fitting for the
volunteer mention this month. It was in this context…
“Volunteering starts by looking out for your neighbor.”
To all that follow that line of thought, thank you!
And here is a short video clip that is in that spirit..
