Stonewall ManorThis place matters because it was built in the younger 1800s as one of the most expensive and beautiful plantation houses at the time. After the Civil War,
most of the 127 acres owned were sold, and
finally the plantation was sold to Rocky Mount Mills
for $15,000 and renovations began.

The Imperial CentreIn 1999, hurricane Floyd
came through eastern North Carolina and flooded much of the land, including
the Children’s Museum. Since, they have relocated to an old tobacco factory
(called the Imperial Tobacco Factory) , which gave it its name of The
Imperial Centre. Inside is displayed art from many different artists, it still
includes the old children’s museum, and more!

Rocky Mount Mills
The Rocky Mount Mills began building in 1818, and was officially the
second cotton mill in the state. This place had mill
villages and the Battle family’s home. (Hence the
name, Battle Park!) Federals burnt down the mill in 1863, but it was soon rebuilt and finally closed down somewhat
recently in 1996.
