Irish Dry StoutABV: 6%

Smell: A light malt aroma and a much stronger floral hop aroma

Taste: Medium to strong roasty malt flavor.

Mouth: slightly creamy, just enough carbonation

Beer Advocate grade: B

Porters and Stouts 101…

English Porter:Porters originated from UK, usually have sweeter roasted notes and are less dry

American Porter: similar to the English porter, but with a higher level of hop bitterness

Baltic Porter:Brewed in Northern Europe, higher in alcohol but also tends to be a bit sweeter.

StoutsPorters

Dry Stout:Pronounced dry bitterness on the palate.

Oatmeal Stout: Stout brewed with oatmeal, smooth quality to the palate.

Russian Imperial Stout: Much higher alcohol by volume and with considerably more hop bitterness.

Smell: Coffee, toasted malt with quite a big chocolate presence.

Taste: Starts with light roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Finishes a bit sweet.

Mouth: Heavy and Smooth. Beer Advocate grade: B+
