STRADDLE BUSHuge elevated public bus
Straddles two road lines
Carry 1200 passengers
Allow smaller vehicles to pass under it
Taking no road space
Reduce traffic jams by 30%
Powered by municipal electricity or solar power
4
This concept is introduced in China which is the worlds largest polluter. 4 types of public transport systems are used in ChinaThat are,
1. Subway2. Light rail train3. BRT4. Normal bus CNTD...5
SUBWAYHigh cost
Long time to built
6
LIGHT RAIL TRAINReconstruction of roads
Chances of accidents
7
BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) Takes more road space
Pollution
noise
8
NORMAL BUS
Noise
Pollution Less capacity
Parking space 9
Next Generation Transit System10
The model looks like a subway or light-rail train bestriding the road The bus can reduce the traffic jams 20%-30%
Powered by electricity and solar energy Reduced the traffic jams by 20%-30%.
4-4.5M high with two levels passenger boat on the upper level and 7 M in width while other vehicles lower than 2M can go
Cost is about 5.36 billion rupees to build the bus and a 40KM long path for it, approximately 7% of metro system
11
FEATURES OF STRADDLE BUS12Indicates a light when any obstacles are in the path of the vehicle
12
13Warning alarms are provided inside to warn cars from getting too close to the bus (radar scanning)
Cameras are fitted inside the tunnel which is monitor on driver cabin
Large windows are provided to avoid backward illusion,
14Big cities remodeled their traffic signalling system to prioritize public buses, Emergency braking system is provided incase of accidents
15
Escaping door (similar to inflated ladder in planes)
Ultrasonic waves put forth from the end of the bus, that is to keep those high cars or trucks away from entering the tunnel16
17
Metro costs a lot and takes a long time to build.BRTs takes up road spaces and producing noise and pollution.Normal buses have less capacityLarge parking spaces are required18It is cheaper and construction takes less time It saves road spaces, efficient and high in capacityTraveling with these buses will consume less time so its more sophisicatedLarge parking spaces are not required and can be parked on roads without affecting vehicles
Present Transit SystemsStraddle Bus System
Key steps involved in the implementation Re - modelling of the road:
Laying Rails The rails will be laid on both sides of the road and the bus can run on the rails and save 30% energy.19
Paint white lines The white lines on both sides of the road and buses will have auto pilots which will follow these lines and run stable while moving. 20
Building stations There are also two ways in dealing with station platform1.load/unload through the sides2.Using the built-in ladder so that passengers can go up and to the overpass through the ceiling door.
21
POWER SUPPLY TO BUSStraddle bus is completely powered byMunicipal electricitySolar power
MUNICIPAL ELECTRICITY
The setting is called relay direct current electrificationBus itself is electrical conductorTwo rails built on topAllow charging post to run along busNext post on rail before earlier leaves
22
SOLAR POWER
Use super capacitor
It can charge, discharge and store electricity quickly
Charging done when bus stops on station
Achieving zero toxic gas on the process
Solar panels provided on the stations

Metro rail transit systemStraddle Bus systemIt requires huge infrastructure, which incurs more initial investment
It requires more land to build. elevated structures.
It runs only on electricity.
It can carry 1000 passengers at a time.
It does not require elevated structure
It does not require more land, as rails will be laid on the road itself.
It runs on electricity as well as solar energy.
it can carry 1200-1400 passengers at a time.
Eco-friendly
WHY IN INDIA?India is second largest in population
Because of High population density India's major cities facing traffic jams. 30% of traffic jams can be avoid by using straddle bus
As a developing nation India facing air pollution. Straddle bus can prevent 2640 tons of carbon emissions that 40 buses emit annually
Fuel cost in India is high comparing with other nations. 860 tons of fuel can be save by using straddle bus
Shortest construction life cycle 1 year to built 40kms
25
ConclusionIt runs above car and under overpass, saves road space.
It uses electric and solar power reduces the air pollution
It reduces up to 20-30 % of traffic jams
It is safe, efficient and has high capacity.
It is eco- friendly26
AppendixThe Straddling bus was first exhibited on the 13th Beijing international high-tech expo.
The basic idea was proposed by Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Company
First trial run was done in Beijing'sMentougou district by late 2010
The city of Manaus,Brazil also installed this bus on their streets27
