Year 8 Drama
Why Drama? Because Drama is a real-world subject that reflects on people and situations; how to interact with others, and understand them. It is the subject of
communication, compassion and creativity. It’s not just about acting!
Past Drama students have gone on to study law, teaching, psychology, tourism, and early childhood education. And yes, some have studied acting and even industry roles behind-
the-scenes too, like theatre management.
Treasure Seekers Unit – Do you like adventure? In the first unit of year 8 Drama, you participate in learning more about role and dramatic meaning through roleplay and Process Drama. A process drama involves the teacher in role, leading you through issue based drama as characters, where you have to make decisions and roleplay. It’s kind of like a structured choose-your-own-adventure plot!
Tale Twisters Unit- You will study children’s theatre, write your own short script, then perform one in small groups, for a young primary school aged audience using costumes and props. Heaps of fun!
