• Suggested 10 hours/week, no more than 8 hours a day
• Provide a 30-minute break if activities are for 5 continuous hours

Pepco: Best Practices
• Beginning/end surveys (over 60% increase in students interested in industry)
• Catered learning-work with students 1:1 to identify career or educational interests to bring in possible guest speakers or 1:1 informational interviews such as fire protection engineering
• After career experience, keep in touch with the students, created an alumni network, introduced to workforce development curriculum, scholarship opportunities, invited to community workforce development on site opportunities

Days Activities
Monday Welcome, Orientation, Professional Policies and Procedures, HIPPA, Classroom didactic (preparing your on-line application, test taking strategies for a civil service written exam, preparing for an oral interview)
Tuesday Field Trip to the Fire and Rescue Operational Medical Section (FROMS). The focus of this trip is to address the importance of Firefighter Wellness, Safety, Risk Management, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and related priorities, The Public Safety Communications Center (PSCC), students will see first-hand the impact of strong listening and communication skills, both face to face and via radio while observing the management of receiving actual 911 emergency calls.
Wednesday Montgomery County Public Safety Public Safety Training Academy for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Scene Safety, Body Substance Isolation, Basic Bleeding Control and Bandaging.
Thursday Three panel member mock interview with RISE students. Feedback will be given and based on lecture material from day one presentation. Lecture on preparing your background packet. Resume writing and capturing your greatest accomplishments. The focus of this presentation is to exercise the importance of good grades, great attendance, participation in extracurricular activities and the potential negatives of poor choices/decisions i.e. social media.
