No single event in human history has received more attention than the suffering and
crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. Beginning Sunday, March 10, Pastor Wally will share a
series of messages that guide us through the last week of Jesus’ life. Each service is designed
to help you experience and understand the significance of Jesus’ suffering and death. We
will look at the geographical and historical setting of the events and trace Jesus’ steps on his
last day. Whether you are a long-time Christian or simply curious about the story of Christ’s
crucifixion, you are invited to join us for this powerful series as we take the journey – In His
Steps!

The finance team would like to thank each of you who have taken the time to turn in your 2019 pledge commitments. We are in the last steps of finalizing the 2019 budget and bringing it to a vote. Currently we are about 20 pledge cards short of last year’s number. Our church family and outreach programs rely on you and your giving. Please contact Vickie Jones, our Financial Administrator, if you have any questions or would like a pledge card mailed to you. There are cards available in the back of the worship center and on the Welcome table, also. Again, if you have already turned in your pledge card… THANK YOU. If not, please find in your heart to pledge.

Butterfly Release In honor or in memory of family and
friends after each service on
Easter Sunday, April 21st.
On Easter, the most important day of the Church year, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. At Wylie United, our celebration will include our Annual Butterfly release. Order your butterflies starting
Sunday, March 24th. Since ancient times, the butterfly has been a symbol that reminds us of the life, death, and the resurrection of Christ. The caterpillar reminds us of Jesus' life on earth. The dark chrysalis stage reminds us of Jesus
crucifixion and death. After a time of struggle, the caterpillar transforms and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. This reminds us how Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his followers with his new body after three days in the grave. The butterfly also reminds us of our final resurrection and eternal life, when we will all be changed.
The Wylie United Children's Ministry are selling butterflies for $10.00 in the foyer on Sundays March 24, 31 and April 7.
A donation was given in memory of
Paula Scanlan by Mr. & Mrs. Ron Sellars.

Easter Egg Hunt Page 11
The annual Easter Egg Hunt and Games sponsored by Wylie United Children's Ministry is
Saturday, April 20, at 10:00 am.
Come at 10:00 am and start your morning with some games, crafts, a holiday snack and take your picture with the Easter Bunny!
At 10:25 the kids will line up according to age around the grassy
lawn on the north side of the church. The Easter Bunny will supervise, the bell will be rung and the race for the eggs will begin!
Once the eggs are all gathered the fun can continue inside if you
didn't get to it before the Egg Hunt.
Bring your friends, family and neighbors!

Relay for Life Page 13
It is that time of the year to start thinking about
joining our Relay for Life team! Relay for Life is
an event sponsored by the American Cancer
Society where we raise money to go towards
fighting for a cure! Cancer is personal. We have
members among us celebrating clear scans as
others anxiously continue to fight. We all have
seen the ugliness and the aftermath of what Cancer does to families.
Cancer has touched all of us in some way and we want to stop this disease
in its tracks. We’ll spend the next few months fundraising for the American
Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we’ll honor the lives lost to
cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly
help others. We will do this by walking as a team!
To sign up Google “Relay for Life of NE Communities”,
then click on the purple box that says “JOIN
this RELAY.” Click on create an account. If
you have been on our team in the past then
just sign in using your email and password.
Look for the team “Wylie United Methodist
Church and Friends.”
We would love to have each and every family
sign up to help support our team.
The event will take place Saturday May 11, 2019, at Murphy Central Park
Amphitheater from 4pm to 10pm.
Together, we’ll be part of making a difference in this important cause.
