CruisingFor those wishing to sail locally our area covers
the beautiful Gower coast. There are lovely
sandy beaches to anchor off and clear waters
for swimming and diving: perfect for sailing.
Further afield, Ilfracombe is about 4 hours sail
to the south, whilst to the south west lies
Lundy Island, with Padstow and the North
Cornish coast beyond. Sailing west along the
South Wales coast will bring you to Tenby and
then Milford Haven.

The Gold Anchor Award Scheme
has been established to improve
the standards of facilities available
to all boat owners. Marina
Operators who are Members of
the Yacht Harbour Association may
enter the Scheme for assessment.
The level of the Award ranges from
three to five Gold Anchors. Any
Award is a sign of a quality marina,
whilst the number of anchors
indicates the level of the facilities
available.
The Scheme is purely voluntary and
is designed to bring the industry to
the forefront of boating and to
encourage better standards.
Swansea Marina was assessed
under the Gold Anchor Award
Scheme in 2010. We are pleased to
inform you that as a result of our
efforts to provide you with a first
class and value for money facility,
we were awarded five Gold
Anchors.
Gold Anchor AwardBlue FlagThe Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-
label awarded to around 3100
beaches and marinas in 35 countries
across Europe, South Africa, New
Zealand, Canada and the Caribbean.
The Blue Flag works towards
sustainable development at
beaches/marinas through strict
criteria dealing with water quality,
environmental education and
information, environmental
management and safety and other
services.
The Blue Flag Campaign includes
environmental education and
information for the public, decision
makers and tourism operators.
Naturally Swansea Marina will be
maintaining its high environmental
standards and will be re-applying for
the Blue Flag in 2011.
Many of our visitors have discovered
the attractions of Swansea Marina as a
release from long hours spent
commuting to other sailing areas on the
South Coast or the South West.
Here you will be spoilt for choice of
sailing area. Favourite day trips might
be to Oxwich Bay, Three Cliffs or
Ilfracombe – longer weekends or
holidays might take in Tenby, Milford
Haven, Padstow or Ireland.
The wide sweep of Swansea Bay offers
a safe and sandy playground for sailors
where you can forget the overcrowded
waters of other resorts for a quiet
afternoon spent choosing a bay to drop
anchor. If you prefer the thrill of
competition, Mumbles Yacht Club offers
a full racing programme and we can
contact them for you.
Our travel hoist and boatyard are run by
experienced personnel and our staff
are always on hand to give friendly
advice. Please ring or radio ahead so
that we can advise you of any special
local events, weather or locking
conditions.
We know that once you have visited us
you will want to return! Be assured that
the warmest welcome awaits you and
that we will do everything we can to
make your stay comfortable,
memorable and an experience that
everyone will look back on as ‘the good
times we had.’
More than a Marina...Swansea Marina has a unique
combination of safe mooring
facilities, wonderful sailing and
enough activities to keep every
crew member happy.
Within a few minutes walk there
are cinemas, theatres, restaurants,
museums and a sandy beach. The
town, which has a warm and
friendly character all of its own,
boasts a thriving market and
covered shopping centre both
of which are within easy walking
distance of our facilities.
For those who enjoy walking and
cycling there is the long promenade
to the fishing village of Mumbles,
still a magnet for visitors and
gateway to the spectacular Gower
peninsula. The latter offers coastal
walks, sheltered bays and
breathtaking scenery.
Locally, there are five golf
courses to choose from
and every kind of
entertainment from quiet
pubs to the town’s
nightclubs which draw
revellers from all over
South Wales.
Swansea is just a few
minutes from junctions 42
to 47 of the M4 and at just
two and a half hours from
Birmingham or an hour and
a quarter from Bristol is
uniquely placed for access
from the Midlands and the
West. An hourly train service
runs from Swansea to Paddington.
