Welcome:WelcometoFinancialAccounting&Analysis.Iamveryexcitedtoteachthiscourseonlinethissemesterandlookforwardtoworkingwithyouandcreatingacollaborativelearningcommunity.Thegreatthingabouttakinganonlineclassisthatitallowsyoutodigestandabsorbnewinformationinyourownlearningenvironment.Wewillencourageparticipationfromallmembersoftheclass.Inordertofosterourcollaborativelearningcommunity,wewillworktogetheraspartnersinthislearningexperience.Itwillrequirethatyouparticipateandstayengagedthroughoutthesemester.Iwillprovideyouwithmanytoolsandresourcestohelpyoustayontrackwiththeclassandtoenhanceengagementwiththematerial.Thisclasswillhelpyoudevelopyourbusinessanalysisskillsandgiveyouseveraltoolsthatyoucanuseatworkandinyourowninvestmentdecisions.Ilookforwardtomeetingyouonline.InstructorBio:IliveintheSt.Louismetroareaandhavethreesons,oneofwhichiscurrentlyincollege.IattendedIllinoisCollegereceivingmyundergraduatedegreeinaccounting,NorthernIllinoisUniversityreceivingmyMBA,andSaintLouisUniversityreceivingmyPh.D.infinanceandaccounting.IworkedasaCPAformanyyearsinChicagoandhavetaughtaccountingatseveraluniversities.IhavebeenteachingatUMSLsince2010.Ilovemusic,travel,andchocolate.TeachingPhilosophy:Ibelievethatyou(thestudent)determineyourownlevelofsuccessinthecourse.Accountingcoursesrequirededicatedtextbookstudy,homeworkproblempractice,andtheabilitytoapplyaccountingtools.Thisgraduatelevelfinancialaccounting&analysiscoursefocusesonapplyingtheanalysisandvaluationtoolsthatwelearnduringthesemestertoactualpubliccompanyfinancialstatements.Iwillpresentthematerialandhelppromotelearningandanalysisskills.However,itisuptoyoutoread,study,practice,andparticipate.Itisimperativethatyoucommunicateconcernsregardingthecoursetomeassoonaspossible.Ifyouarehavingtrouble,letmeknow.Iamheretohelpyouachievethebestpossibleoutcomeinthiscourse.Thiscourseisfullofgreatteachingresources.Usethemtothefullest.Thisisagreatopportunitytolearnandimproveyourskills.
