Through the grace of God, we have indeed been blessed — as individuals and as a parish community. Looking back on 2012 it is wonderful to see the many ways that you and your brothers and sisters in Christ have shared your time, talents, and treasure to give back to God a portion of the blessings He has bestowed on us. May this guide serve as a reminder of the fruit of parishioners’ service in the past year and inspire us all to give back to God joyfully and gratefully a portion of that which He has given us. Processions
On Sunday, June 10, the Corpus Christi procession concluded the 8:00 Mass. The First Communicants were encouraged to wear their suits and dresses and to help lead the procession with their banners.
On Sunday, November 25, the procession for the Feast of Christ the King concluded the 11:00 Mass.

Video Presentations The video A Man for All Seasons was shown on March 10 and June 22 in connection with the Fortnight for Freedom. The Knights of Columbus hosted a showing of For Greater Glory on Saturday, October 27 in the Parish Hall. 25 parishioners watched the movie and enjoyed snacks provided by the K of C.
The Catholicism Project Fr. Robert Barron’s video series The Catholicism Project was shown in the spring on Sundays (after the 8:00 Mass) and on Thursday evenings.
K-8 Religious Education
Total number of children enrolled: 90
2012 Achievements: SRE children participated in a May Crowning and procession to conclude the year. For the beginning of the SRE year, they held a Living Rosary Service in October and three students won placement in the Serra Club poster contest. In November, all classes participated in an outreach canned food, with the 7

grade classes bringing in the most items for Thanksgiving baskets.
Vacation Bible School
110 children and 55 catechists/helpers participated in this year’s Vacation Bible School from June 11-15, 2012. The theme was “Vatican Express.”

Education/Formation F.I.R.E. (Fan the Flame - Inspiration through Religious Enrichment) Classes were taught by the seminarians (summer only) and Chad Grube. Year of the Eucharist The parish was challenged to take on a spiritual resolution to grow in our Eucharistic life. Those who were registered received weekly emails with helpful information and encouraging them to continue with their commitment. There were also three mornings of reflections connected to this theme—March 3 (33 participants), June 16 (12 participants), November 10 (8 participants).
Year of Faith The Year of Faith began on October 11, 2012 and runs through November 24, 2013. Numerous resources have been given to parishioners (in the Limerick, on the website, and bulletin inserts).
R.C.I.A. St. Joan of Arc’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults was joined with St. Patrick’s R.C.I.A. program (classes only) in 2009 and separated again in 2012. Additional catechesis (Breaking Open the Word) is offered at each parish following dismissal from Mass after the homily. R.C.I.A. generally follows a school calendar. Numbers represent the total number of people from both parishes. Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School Stewardship & Evangelization ChristLife

Contact number: 454-7173 2012 Achievements: This program was introduced at St. Patrick during the fall of 2012. The goal of ChristLife is to equip Catholics for the essential work of evangelization so that others might come to know personally the love of God through Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit, becoming his followers and members of the Church. There are three components within the ChristLife program — Discovering Christ, Following Christ, and Sharing Christ. Each component includes 7-10 teachings. Discovering Christ sessions took place on Sunday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Each evening consisted of dinner, prayer, worship music, a lesson, and small group discussion. Approximately 130 parishioners participated in the Sunday sessions and 110 in the Thursday sessions. Childcare was offered during the Thursday evening sessions. A Discovering Christ retreat was held on Saturday, October 20 in the Parish Hall. Volunteer opportunities included serving on the dinner team, on the service team, as a table leader, as a worship leader, and as a childcare helper.
Billboards and Religious Freedom Rally
To proclaim the sanctity of life, two billboards were sponsored in high-visibility areas in Kokomo. One was located at the intersection of US 31 and Center Road; the other was located at Defenbaugh and Dixon Road. These billboards were sponsored by two separate parishioners. As a way to stand up for religious freedom, two billboards were also displayed to speak out in defense of this freedom. These billboards were placed on West Sycamore St. (across from St. Joseph Hospital) and on South Dixon Rd. (between Defenbaugh and Boulevard). Also, 10-12 parishioners from St. Patrick and St. Joan of Arc attended the March 23 Religious Freedom Rally at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Fortnight for Freedom yard signs were available for parishioners to purchase.
Literature Distribution
On Ash Wednesday (February 22), parishioners were given copies of Fr. Ted Dudzinski’s booklet In His Image: Good Stewards of God’s Varied Graces (Boni Dispensatores). Subtitled A Collection of Lenten meditations for the people of God of Kokomo, Indiana based on the USCCB Pastoral Letter: “Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response”, the booklet walked parishioners through daily scripture readings, points of reflection, and a focus on a resolution. In October, parishioners received a collection of writings entitled “The Gospel & Culture” that looked at current issues in our culture and what the Church teaches about the various issues.

Living Your Strengths

2012 Achievement: Over 130 parishioners participated in the Living Your Strengths parish initiative. Living Your Strengths begins with taking the Clifton StrengthsFinder, an on-line questionnaire that reveals the individual’s top five signature talents. LYS Journey is a six week group study which parishioners explore their unique God-given talents, recognize those same talents in others and learn how to apply this knowledge in their parish, personal and professional lives. Strengths Coaching involves one-on-one meetings with a trained strengths coach to help better understanding one’s top five natural talents, how to develop them into strengths and how to use them to give one’s best to God.
CD and Book Give-Away The parish presented gifts to parish families at Easter and Christmas. At Easter, parishioners received a CD entitled Who Do You Say That I Am? by Fr. Robert Barron. The Christmas gift was Peter Kreeft’s book Jesus Shock.
Church Tours Throughout the year, various groups visit St. Patrick to tour the church. In 2012, some of the groups that came for tours were a parish from Indianapolis and its sister parish from Honduras, a film crew from South Korea, a class from Guerin High School, Woodbridge Health Campus from Logansport, an art class from Ivy Tech Community College, the Kokomo Rotary Club, and a Rotary Club from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Two tours were also offered to those attending the Fun and Fish Fry Frenzy.

Social Concerns Ministry of Care

Participants: 20 2012 Achievements: We had between 20 and 25 homebound parishioners. Fr. Rowland and Fr. Bennett visited the parishioners on most first Fridays of the month. Deacon Ron Morrow had Communion services at some of the nursing homes, depending on the number of Catholic residents. Deacon also made visits once a week, alternating between Sterling House, Greentree and Jefferson Manor. The Lenten Annointing Service was March 18, 2012 at 4:00 pm with a dinner reception following. Approximately 50 parishioners attended. Ministry of Care members visits St. Joseph hospital and brings the Eucharist to Catholic patients every Sunday. All nursing home Catholic residents are visited weekly by a minister of care.
Haiti Twinning

Contact number: 455-1389 2012 Achievements: Members of this ministry meet on the first Saturday of the month at 8:45 a.m. to plan fundraisers and projects for our sister parish, St. Therese, in Marfranc, Haiti. Needed supplies for the church and school are sent on a sea container each year. We are extremely grateful for parishioners who have donated funds for the education of Wilkens Caidor, who hopes to be a doctor.

Contact number: 459-8655 2012 Achievements: This ministry assisted approximately 20-25 migrants once a month during the times the migrants were at the camps. Volunteers visited the migrants and took them linens, towels, blankets, household items, and sweets. (Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary to serve with this ministry.)
Hispanic Ministry Contact: Monica Taskey
Contact number: 868-3027 2012 Achievements: This group meets every Monday morning to pray the Rosary and eat brunch. During the summer months, Mass is offered in Spanish, followed by a pitch-in meal. In December, we celebrated Our Lady of Guadalupe with a bilingual Mass, a mariachi band, dinner, and fiesta. We also helped 13 Mexican families at Thanksgiving and Christmas through the holiday outreach program.

Contact number: 438-2482/459-4222 2012 Achievements: The Elizabeth Ministry was designed to be an outreach to parents during times of celebration, challenge, and sorrow. The purpose of this ministry is to provide support, spiritual guidance, and encouragement to parents of any age. Meals, prayer books, journals and blankets are delivered to families that have recently had a baby, adopted, or have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth. A total of 17 new baby meals were delivered this year. Daphne Shepherd sent out a series of 7 mailings -- called Parent Letters which fill the critical need to connect our parish with families right from the start. They provide Catholic wisdom, age-appropriate strategies, timely advice, and heartwarming sentiments in parent-friendly packages. A total of 165 Milestone Marker letters were sent from the parish. A community-wide memorial Mass for miscarried and stillborn infants is also a part of this ministry.
Prayer Shawl Ministry Contact: Gayle Schnepp
Contact number: 459-3820 2012 Achievements: This ministry meets the second Thursday of the month for knitting, praying the rosary and fellowship. The prayer shawls may be picked up in the parish office and given to friends or family who are going through a time of need.

Parish Life
Parish Nurses
2012 Achievements: Parish nurses conducted a survey of parishioner needs and requests on January 21 and 22. The survey sheets were handed out at the church entrances and filled out before Mass. The response was very good with 274 surveys collected. Several people requested that we continue to include articles in the Limerick to inform the parish about medical and health issues.
An attempt was made to form a diocesan parish nurse group during the last part of 2011 and until May of 2012. Karen Lopke, Bev Bernhardt and Carol Kugley traveled to Lafayette to meet with Bishop Doherty. The plans are tabled at this time. In May, St. Patrick nurses presented a program to the Kokomo area parish nurse support group at St. Vincent, St. Joseph Hospital; Dr. Davis of the Radiolo-gy Department was the speaker. The meeting was well attended.
St. Patrick parish nurses, along with nurse parishioners, staffed the first aid room at the Holy Family Catholic Conference on Saturday of the conference. St. Joan of Arc nurses staffed the room on Sunday.
Parish nurses worked throughout August to prepare for a Fitness Team Exercise Challenge. This exercise challenge was to go from September 15 to October 14. The challenge did not take place due to lack of parishioner participation.
The November 3 All Souls Day Memorial Mass was well attended. Forty three candles represented parishioners or family members who have passed away since November, 2011. A reception held in the parish hall after the Mass.
The four AEDs at St. Patrick and the four at St. Joan of Arc were tested each month by parish nurses and reported to be ready for an emergency. Each AED has a log with it that documents its test dates and results. The results are also sent to Superior AED in California and recorded as an online oversight backup.
First aid kits and spill kits are all stocked with proper supplies including one each in the parish office restroom, in the parish hall kitchen, in the vesting sacristy and in the working sacristy. A red cross marks the cabinet where these are located.

The Saint Paula Group meets each Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm. On the first Wednesday of the month, the group goes out to dinner; the other evenings they read and discussed scripture, wrapping up 2012 having read through Deuteronomy in the Old Testament.
Funeral Meals

Volunteers provided comforting meals following a dozen funerals for those in the parish who had experienced the loss of a loved one. Two teams of 8 to 12 women alternate serving meals. Approximately 50 additional parish-ioners are signed up to bring desserts as needed.
Parish Fun & Fish Fry Frenzy

2012 Achievements: The Fun & Fish Fry Frenzy was held on November 30. Approximately 400 people attend-ed. The event included a fish fry, si-lent auction, bingo, children’s activi-ties and major raffle. The event raised $9,000 for the parish.
Note: In addition to the annual Fish Fry Frenzy and major raffle, we hope to host an International Festival.
St. Patrick’s Feast Day Celebration

Holy Family Catholic Conference

2012 Achievement: Approximately 400 people from Indiana and the Midwest attended the 6th annual conference. This conference was made possible by generous donations, corporate sponsorships and over 300 volunteers. Speakers included Rebecca Dussault, Sr. Helena Burns, FSP, Gus Lloyd, and Joan and Dave Maroney.

Women’s Retreat

Passion & Purpose Pilgrimage to Blessed Sacrament Shrine
Coordinator: Kelli Conlon 50 pilgrims journeyed to Alabama to attend the Matthew Kelly Passion and Purpose Conference and visit to the Blessed Sacrament Shrine on April 20-22, 2012.

The goal is that children will grow in their understanding and desire to experience God’s abundant love in the Blessed Sacrament. It is also our hope that families will frequent the Adoration Chapel as well as pray together often as a family.
Family Holy Hour
Coordinators: Fr. Huemmer, Diane Sleeth, and Family Life Team
Since September of 2011 the Family Holy Hour has alternated monthly between the two parishes. Both parishes provide a dinner at 6:15 pm prior to 7 pm Adoration. The Family Holy Hour meets on the First Friday of each month in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Monthly attendance varies from 30 to 70 people.
2012 Achievements:
February -- Dinner and Family Holy Hour for the protection of Marriage and Family June -- Dinner and Family Holy Hour August -- Parish Picnic was held at Jackson Morrow Park; approximately 75 people attended. October – Family Holy Hour for Life, birthday celebration for spiritually-adopted babies and balloon Rosary for life. December — Family Holy Hour was canceled because of the Vigil Mass for the Immaculate Conception

Youth Fundraising

Huemmer Contact number: 452-6021 Each of the following grade-specific groups met once a month to help participants grow in virtue by integrating the virtues into their lives. The girls in Caritas go to Mass and confession on the first Saturday of the month. They pray the Rosary on the third Sunday of the month and carry up the gifts at the 11:00 Mass. The girls hosted the Mothers’ Day breakfast and helped with the fish fry and the Friday Fun and Fish Fry Frenzy. They also made Rosaries for the Ministry of Care. They camped, hiked, and canoed at Turkey Run State Park in the summer.

The girls in Spes met once a month to participate in a lesson, craft, or activity that focused on the virtues. Their quarterly service projects in 2012 were helping with the Lenten fish fry, the St. Patrick Feast Day Celebration, and the Friday Fun and Fish Fry Frenzy.
3-5 grade “Fides” Coordinator: Monica Taskey Contact number: 868-3027
This group met twice a month — once for a monthly meeting and once for a service project. The girls helped with the Friday Fun and Fish Fry Frenzy as well as with the Our Lady of Guadalupe dinner. Each month they also created a tri-fold poster based on the upcoming virtue, and they gave the poster to Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School to be displayed at the SJA campus.
Middle School Youth Group 2012 Volunteers for M.S. youth group were Shelly Greer, Dave Doucette, Pete Anders, Liz White, Austen Conwell, Mandy Lechner, Mandy Smith, Pam Miller, Linda Butchart, Chuck and Shelia Springer, and Tim and Mary Vas.
Jam 4 Jesus Nights: Approximately 20-30 youth participated at each event.
Annual St. Meinrad and Holiday World Trip: 20 youth participants and 6 adults
July Canoe Trip: cancelled
August 17-18, 16 people attended the Family Vocation Day at the Fathers of Mercy in Auburn, KY.
September Kick-Off at Sky Zone: 25 youth and 7 chaperones
BFF Nights are scheduled twice a month on a Friday or Saturday evening from 7-9 pm. Approximately 15-28 youth attend to hear speakers, participate in praise and worship, play games and learn about Theology of the Body for teens.
Matt Maher and Brandon Heath Concert: 12 youth and 4 adults attended the concert event.
Christ the King Retreat: 40 youth participants and 10 adult chaperones
In November the middle school youth group members sponsored a child from Uganda named Thomas who is 13. The youth will also sponsor a middle school age girl from Haiti.

During 2012, the south parking lot was finished, adding an additional 109 parking spaces. The cost was $651,599. This new lot includes 15 handicapped parking spaces.
The Bethany Center also had to be evacuated due to several issues, thus making the need for an area for the parish youth a priority. During the last months of 2012, several options were considered.
