The ABC Studios Wodonga
We started the night with a BBQ along with the Rotary Club of West Wodonga at the Sumsion Gardens. This proved an excellent site, although a little warm for this time of year. The food was really good and the cheesecake dessert was definitely to my taste.
It was only a short walk and for some an even shorter drive to the ABC Goulburn Murray Studios where Ray introduced us to current staff member Gaye Pattison, the Regional Content Manager, who was kind enough to show us around and give us a bit of the history lesson on the studios and some past radio identities. It wasn’t too long before we got into the actual recording studio to learn the nitty gritty of the process of AM-FM radio. Although Ray is an old
hand at the job, our members were keen to see Robert in action at the microphone. This has been one of his childhood dreams and now does manage to show his talents on Indigo FM 86.7 every Thursday afternoon.
There certainly is a lot more than meets the eye, or should I say ear, to the everyday running of the radio station, with a playlist of over 3000 songs to choose from, the news and weather readings and the ability of good timing to do these things to perfection.

You can see how interesting the evening was, just by the awe shown on the faces of the members. President John handed over a bottle of our President’s Muscat to Wodonga President Rau in appreciation of their hospitality during this joint meeting and BBQ. He is hoping that the may raffle it between their members. At the end of the radio station tour, he also presented a bottle of President’s Muscat each to Ray and Gaye in appreciation of a very educational evening. A good night was had by all.

Rib Ticklers
As I got into my car this morning my neighbor Paddy came over and said, "Simon, can you give me a lift somewhere? It won't take long." "Sure," I replied, "Jump in." He said, "Do a left here and then another left after 800 yards." "Ok," I replied. "Now do another left here," he continued, "And then another left at the end” After a few minutes he said, "Now stop." I said, "Paddy, we are back at your house!" He said, "I know, there's no way I'm jogging in this weather."
Apologies
If you do not put in an apology, you will be charged for the dinner, as the Club is

Last week you would have read in the Bulletin about Stephanie Woollard who is the founder and director of Seven Women, she also runs a company called Hands On Development, through which she speaks at events, mentors others and runs study tours to Nepal. Stephanie’s talks offer students and business owners insight into how to live their passion and run enterprises that contribute to a better world. Stephanie, has created itineraries that immerse people in the real life and culture of the country and take them to organisations and businesses, including Seven Women, that are committed to bringing about real and lasting change. You can contact Stephanie at [email protected] for speaking engagements or to join a tour. A documentary has been made about the trials and benefits of this program. You are invited to attend the screening.
