of Christ’s crucifixion, a lance, sponge, cross, and nails.

Readings for February 28, Third Sunday of Lent 1st Reading: Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15… God speaks to Moses from the burning bush and sends him to the Israelites in Egypt. 2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12…Paul uses the action of the Israelites in the desert as an example for us to remain faithful to God and not do evil. Gospel Reading: Luke 13:1-9… In the parable of the barren fig tree, Jesus teaches us that God is like a patient gardener caring for us, so we may repent and bear fruit. Question for reflection: What type of “pruning” does God need to do in your life for you to bear more “fruit”?

2016 THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY: What is a pilgrimage?
A pilgrimage is a prayerful journey to a church or shrine with the purpose of coming closer to God. Pope Francis was very precise in exhorting the faithful to participate in a pilgrimage during the Jubilee of Year of Mercy: “Everyone will have to make a pilgrimage...May pilgrimage be an impetus to conversion: by crossing the threshold of the Ho-ly Door, we will find the strength to embrace God’s mercy and dedicate ourselves to being merciful with others as the Father has been with us.” (MV 14) Where can I go on a pilgrimage with my
parish or my family? First and foremost, all of the faithful of the Diocese of Pittsburgh are encouraged to make a Pilgrimage to the Holy Door at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland. The Cathedral is open from 5:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. each evening. Daily Mass schedule is 6:45 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 12:05 p.m. Sunday Mass schedule: 6:00 p.m., Saturday vigil; Sunday: 6:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and
