The fund generated in the Book-The-Evening programme (October 2017) has been used to
donate music and play materials to Jagat Sundar Bwanekuthi School located in Dallu. Jagat Sundar School was established 28 years ago and is run as a trust purely dependent on donations. The students in this school come from very deprived families that cannot bear the financial burden of educating their children. Education of most of the students as well as development of the school’s infrastructure is being sponsored by individuals from within and outside the country. Teachers work at a negligible salary scale, much below that of Government teachers. The compassion, hard work and dedication of the staff are reflected in the excellent end results of the graduating students.
Nisarga Team visited the school two weeks ago, acquired some details about the school and also found out from the principal that the school desperately needed some indoor and outdoor sports materials as well as some musical instruments
and other essential things. The principal informed us that there were students in the school with lots of potentials in areas other than academics and the school has not been able to do much to bring forth these potentials. During their visit to the school
Nisarga team found plenty of evidence that the donations received by the school were used properly and to the optimum level.
Nisarga management team therefore donated some sports materials and musical instruments to Jagat Sundar School on 24 May, 2018 amongst a function organized by the school.
The principal of Jagat Sundar School Ms. Sunita Manandhar, has expressed her gratitude to the Nisarga parent body on behalf of the school’s staff and students.

Teacher EnrichmentThe academic year of 2075 began with a
weeklong enrichment session for the teachers of Nisarga Batika School. From April 15th to 20th, two simultaneous programmes were being held. The programme for preschool teachers focused on Montessori approach and curriculum while the programme for the teachers of grades 1 to 9 immersed in an expedition on curriculum and learning. During the enrichment programme for preschool, Monica Pradhan, Head of the preschool at Nisarga, conducted trainings to refresh and upskill preschool teachers on Montessori method. The sessions were focused on the Montessori curriculum in alignment with children’s developmental needs and interests, making circle time interesting and effective and the Montessori way of communicating with children. The enrichment programme for elementary school, facilitated by Ayushma Regmi, allowed teachers to understand in depth what goes into the making of
the curriculum. Emphasis was placed on helping each teacher work on their own vision of education and several workshops enabled the teaching community to come up with a collective vision. Teachers began, and will continue throughout the year, to see how this vision will get translated into the everyday practices in the classroom.According to participants, the workshop allowed them to think outside the box and approach what happens in their classroom in new ways. All participants felt encouraged to think and rethink their ideas and attitudes towards education.Additionally, teachers of preschool and grades I to III participated in a half day workshop on storytelling by Payal Chaudhary, a renowned expert in the field.

22 students from Nisarga participated in the Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) conference held from 11th to 13th May 2018 at Bouddha Meridian School. Out of 25 committees, our students represented in 15 different committees. The event served as an excellent learning experience for the students related to the United Nations and the flow of debates in different committees. The participating students got an excellent reception from Akhilesh Jayakrishnan, Secretariat Member of IIMUN: “We would like to showcase our heartfelt gratitude to Nisarga Batika School
and its students who were a part of the IIMUN NEPAL conference. It was indeed a great pleasure to host your institute. Something that I can say after having witnessed the dedication and effort that was displayed by the school delegation is that it is these students who will, sooner rather than later, go on to become future leaders of the world. It is academicians like you, whose initial push and continuous guidance helps the students to explore the hidden potential in them. Therefore it is our pleasure to have you with us on this journey,” he said.
