P ATRIOT P RESS The
Dear families,
Thank you to our wonderful PTO for a yummy breakfast for all of our
staff this past Friday! We are so grateful for your kindness and certain-
ly feel appreciated and blessed.
We are excited to have our district maintenance team on site this week
to help us with some of our bigger projects. You will soon see that we
are having more concrete poured near the marquee so we can bring in
additional bike racks for our students. We love that so many of our stu-
dents can bike to school but we need more areas to park them safely.
We thank our district for help with this project.
Inside POA, you will see that our middle school art students have been
busy creating mosaic signage for the media center, band room, art
room, office, cafeteria and gym. The signs are amazing and our stu-
dent artists should be proud. Thank you to our district folks for help in
hanging these large art pieces.
You will also notice a new mural in our main hallway– CHARGERS–
with caricatures in each letter depicting what it looks like to be a Good
Charger in our school. Our student artists have done a great job teach-
ing each of us what good character looks like. We are thrilled with this
addition in our hallway.
Thank you to all who donated $1 on Friday to support Douglas High
School. We were able to raise over $800 dollars to send to the families
there. Your outpouring of kindness is an example to all communities
that a little can go a long way.
I shared a quote with my staff last week that I wanted to share with
you. When I read it, it helped me to keep all that is happening around
the world in perspective. “Ships don’t sink because of the water around
them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let
what’s happening around you get inside and weigh you down.”
Something to think about…
Sincerely,
Mrs. Olson

This summer program is available to all students currently in grades five through seven and has been sponsored by the school district since 1982. Moving?
Don’t forget – if you move out of our school zone, you must stop by our front office and fill
out a withdrawal form. We cannot drop your student nor release records to the new school
until we have this form.
Also, if you will be moving out of our school zone over the Summer, please let us know as
soon as possible so that we can adequately plan and, again, have proper withdrawal forms
ready to go.
Lease Expiring/Renewing?
If you currently have a lease that will expire before the end of the school year or during the
Summer, you will need to provide us with a copy of your lease renewal documents (plus cur-
rent utility bills) in order for your student(s) to remain enrolled at POA. If you move, we will
need to have copies of all your new residency documents.
PARENTS! MOVING OR LEASE EXPIRING?
THANK YOU POA!
A huge THANK YOU to the parents and staff of POA!
We collected over 1750 pair of shoes during our
“Shoe Drive” to donate to areas affected by natural
disasters.

many, many jackets! Please come and look through if you are missing items as
we will be donating whatever is left this weekend. Thank you.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SWAG STUDENTS
FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE….
Just a reminder that a note needs to be turned in to your child’s teacher within 24 hours
of your child returning after an absence. The note must have the child’s name, the dates
of absence, the reason for the absence, your signature and the date. For your
convenience, we have placed a “form letter” below that you can print and use by simply
filling in the blanks and sending it to school with your student upon their return to class.
