PARISH LIFE
“The Church draws her life from the Eucharist. This truth does not simply express a daily experience of faith, but recapitulates the heart of the mystery of the Church.” (St. John Paul - On the Eucharist & Its Relationship to the Church). At the parish of St. Theresa, we strive to embody these words that describe the centrality of the Eucharist for the life and mission of the Church.
We welcome you to join us as we gather to celebrate our faith and worship God. Whatever your present status in the Catholic Church, whatever your current family or marital situation, whatever your past or present religious affiliation, whatever your personal history, age, background, or race, you are a Child of God and you are welcomed, accepted, loved, and respected at the Church of St. Theresa.

AS A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY:
WE PRAY FOR OUR SICK
Please remember in your prayers all those members of our parish family and our friends who continuously suffer physically, emotionally and/or spiritually and those who tirelessly care for them. Let us especially remember those currently in need of our prayers: Esther Berdini, Robert Caputo, Kim Carroll, Angie Corrado, Kim Coyle, Erin Derr, Andy Dolch, Cass Donohue, Johnny Favro, Patty Gardner, Paul Gleason, Nancy McCarten, Rev. William Modlin, Irene Neumuller, Andrew Joseph Ragusa, Tracy Robinson, Matthew Steinmetz, Sean William, John Williamson and Sharon Williamson.
WE PRAY FOR OUR RECENTLY DECEASED We extend our prayers and sympathy to the family and friends of Chuck Carroll, Albert DeSilva and Michael McGettigan. May they find eternal rest in peace with God our Father.
WE PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY Please remember in your prayers all those members of our parish family and our friends who are currently deployed especially: Master Sgt. Jordan Bieda, Airman Steven Brown, Boatswain Gabrielle Fest, Airman Staff Sgt. Frank J. Kowalewski, Jr., Sgt. First Class Tom Krumpher, Lt. Jennifer LaFalace, Pvt. Anthony Mackiewicz, Jr., Staff Sgt. Michael Novelli, Staff Sgt. Nicholas Okoszko, Sgt. Robert Paolello, Cpl. Matthew Volko, Lt. Christopher J. Worosz, USN, LTJG Matthew A. Worosz, USN. May the Lord protect them as they protect us.
WE PRAY FOR VOCATIONS Lord of Harvest, we petition you as you have instructed us to ask for more laborers to serve in the vineyard of Your Church. You have
told us that the harvest is rich and laborers are few, and we experience this great need in the face of the challenge of the New Evangelization. We ask the Holy Spirit to inspire young men to seriously consider vocations to the priesthood. Help all of us to be effective instruments to encourage and support those whom you are calling to serve and lead in the Church in the future. Lord, you told your Apostles to put out into the deep. We ask for the grace and courage to accept your call as we pray and work for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Great High Priest, Amen.

An Act of Spiritual Communion
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”

Breaking Open The Word
May 24, 2020 The Ascension of the Lord
First Reading: Acts 1:1-11 Jesus promises to send the Apostles the Holy Spirit as the source of Heavenly power and commanding them to bear witness to Him through their lives and preaching throughout the world. Second Reading: Ephesians 1:17-23 Paul asks that the blessing imparted by God the Father will be strengthened in them through the message of the Gospel. Gospel: Matthew 28:16-20 Revealed only to the disciples, who are commissioned to announce it to all nations and bring them to belief in Jesus, Matthew gives us a foretaste of the final glorious coming of the Son of Man. Consider & Reflect: Each Sunday we profess through the Creed, "He ascended into Heaven." Christ’s Ascension was the culmination of God’s Divine plan for Christ Jesus – His return to His Father with His “Mission Accomplished." Ascension is the grand finale of all Jesus’ words and works done for us and for our salvation. It is a culmination, but not the conclusion. As Jesus is now with God in glory, so Jesus is with us now in Spirit: "Lo, I am with you always." The focus of this feast is the Heavenly reign of Christ. The Lord is now "seated at the right hand of the Father" and He alone is in control of the continuing plan of salvation through the Holy Spirit, unrestricted by time, space or culture. Jesus Christ, having entered the sanctuary of heaven once and for all, intercedes constantly for us as the mediator who assures us of the permanent outpouring of the Holy Spirit”. Our great hope is that one day we too will be ascending to Heavenly glory, provided that, with His grace, we live out our Faith in Him through the mission of loving service He entrusts to us. Think of someone you love dearly who has departed in death. How have you felt closer to that person now that he or she dwells in the Communion of Saints?
THE CHURCH & DAILY CHAPEL NOW OPENED FOR PRIVATE PRAYER
I am very happy to announce that we reopened the Church on Wednesday, May 13th the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. I encourage you to visit the Church for private prayer and to express your gratitude to Our Lady for her intercession and the gift of reopening on this special day. The hours are below: Sundays: 9am to 5pm. Mondays-Friday: 8am to 8pm. Saturdays: 12pm to 6pm. Please be aware of and observe all the necessary sanitary precautions posted around the Church. Thank you!
The Month of Mary Before we take leave of the month of May, dedicated to our mother Mary, find a moment to look at the first community of believers, united with Mary in prayer. Her last words in the bible, spoken at the Cana wedding, ‘Do whatever He tells you’ is reflected in her life and directed to our living as disciples. How blessed we are to have her known and loved, with many traditions in our cultures, our art and devotion. Jesus gave her to us as our Mother before He breathed His last. Take her into your homes and your hearts, for she is the gift that Jesus gave us. Grow closer to her by praying and honoring her feast days. Turn to her for guidance and protection and she will help bring you to her Son.
“Remember O most Gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy
protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.”

HEALTH “TIP” OF THE MONTH
Blood Pressure Guidelines
Blood Pressure Readings have two numbers. The top number (Systolic) measures the pressure when the heart beats. The bottom number (Diastolic) measures pressure between beats. The new Blood Pressure guidelines are:
Normal: less than 120/80 Elevated: Systolic 120-129 and Diastolic less
than 80 Stage 1 Hypertension: Systolic 130-139 or
Diastolic 80-89 Stage 2 Hypertension: Systolic at least 140 or
Diastolic at least 90 A single high reading does not mean you have Hypertension, but it should be monitored regularly. Lifestyle changes such as exercise, weight loss and eating heart healthy meals, etc. will help control your numbers. Be involved in your own health. Know your numbers and see your doctor regularly.
SAVE THE DATE!
