Those who know; always go –and you’re invited tooRotary Loves Kids GolfTournament and Party in theSquare – July 17First, the Tourney – a free-for-allof fun for allQuick point: this is all about helpingkids and having fun while we do it.How well you golf, or even if youcan golf, is secondary. It’s a bestball tournament, so if you hook,slice, shank or lose your ball ithardly matters. If you’ve nevergolfed before, this is the best placeto start. And you don’t have to entera foursome – register alone, or withand a friend, and we’re happy tomatch you up with others.

The day begins at 1:00 p.m. witha shotgun tee-off at Black BearRidge Golf Course and TrilliumWood Golf Club. You’ll enjoy 18holes of golf and chances to winsome outstanding prizes. There willalso be a raffle featuring an array ofspecially selected items.

Then, the Party – food, friends,music and more fun – how muchcan you take?

Don’t golf?Don’tworry.Golfers andnon-golfers come together in theevening as we take over MarketSquare for Party in the Square forlive music, fabulous food, deliciouslibations and a whole host ofactivities designed for maximumfun.

Feast on an outdoor barbeque by“Pig Out” and refreshments atthe cash bar. You can even goshopping at the silent auctiontable featuring even more items soenticing they will tempt even thetightest of wads.

The party kicks off at 7:30 p.m.with the Spencer Evans Bandplaying N’Awlins style jazz. Thenat 9:00 p.m. The Getaway, oneof the area’s most sought afterparty bands, takes the stage withtheir foot stompin`, butt shakin`and hand wavin` hits from the60s-70s-80s & 90s.

“We never lose sight of the fact thatthe true goal of Rotary Loves Kidsand Party in the Square is to raisefunds the club can then invest inthe youth of our community.” SamBrady said. “But we’re determinedto make it so much fun thatpeople are genuinely excited toparticipate.”

Greg Knudsen adds, “Since westarted, 12 years ago, the RotaryLoves Kids Golf Tournament andParty in the Square have raisedover $1,000,000 for children’s carein the Quinte area. We’re proudto have supported Easter SealsCamp Merrywood that helps kidswith physical disabilities succeed;Quinte Children’s Foundation,whose vision is to improve thequality of life for local childrenwho are at risk; and the BellevilleGeneral Hospital to help funddiagnostic equipment for children.”

Quinte Rotary MusicFestival 2015

A week of music magicends with historic finale

For the first time in the 47 yearhistory of the Quinte Rotary MusicFestival, one performer earned fourmajor prizes at the climactic SilverTrophy competition held last monthin Belleville.Tabitha Savic (16) won the festival’scoveted Rose Bowl for voice, SilverStrings for strings (harp) and SilverTray for piano and completed hersweep with the Joe Demeza prizefor best overall performance of thecompetition.

Adjudicators, who heard 113competitors perform over 300 musicpieces during the week-long festival,selected 10 top performers, a choralgroup and jazz band to competeat the Ontario Music FestivalsAssociation provincial competition,held in Peterborough June 1 to 6.Tabitha Savic (voice, harp and piano),David Savic (voice), Jeanette Huang

(violin and piano), Jenna Martinelloand Aaron Yuan (piano), andLynsey Corbin, Danielle Dettlinger,Andrew Powell, Dhalia Steinitz andCynthia Ranjith (musical theatre) willrepresent Quinte at the provincialcompetition.Competing in the provincial recordedcompetition are the Quinte YouthJazz Ensemble, and two divisionsof the Hastings and Prince EdwardRegional Chorus: the Quinte YouthChorale, and the Quinte Children’s(Training) Choir.This year’s festival, sponsored by theBelleville, Trenton and Sunrise Rotaryclubs, was held at six Bellevillevenues: Bridge Street, St. Matthew’sand Eastminster United Churches,

communities stricken by HIV/AIDSare assisted to overcome shortagesof drinking water, food, or shelter – allessential for recovery and a sustainablefuture.
