The Sinful Virtue of the Enemy
3rd Sunday of Messry
Sinner and Humble8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches
sinners in the way.9 The humble He guides in justice,And the humble He teaches His way. Ps 25:8,9
Sinful Virtue25 And if a house is
divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan has risen up against
himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but
has an end. Mk 3:25,26
The blasphemy 28 “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and
whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes
against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to
eternal condemnation”— 30 because they said, “He has an
unclean spirit.” Mk 3:28-30
Chapter Fourteen And when coming together on the Lord's
own day, break bread and give thanks after confessing your transgressions. In that
manner, your sacrifice will be pure. And do not let anyone coming with a quarrel against a brother join you until they get reconciled, in order that your sacrifice is not impure. For this has been spoken of by the Lord, "in every place and time offer me a pure sacrifice, for I am a great King," says the Lord, "and My name is wonderful among the
nations."
The Pauline 17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those
who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you
learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ,
but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the
simple. 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan
under your feet shortly. Rom 16:17-20
Catholic Epistle21 For to this you were called,
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps : “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit
found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges
righteously; 1 Pet 2:21-23
Acts12 Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by
weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”14 So when he would not be
persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” Acts 21:12-14
Psalm 27When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. Ps 27:2,6
Oneness in Him10 that in the dispensation of the
fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven
and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the
counsel of His will, Eph 1:10,11
One or no glory22 And the glory
which You gave Me I have given them, that
they may be one just as We are one:
Jn 17:22
With or AgainstHe who is not
with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather
with Me scatters. Lk 11:23
(St. John Chrysostom)
For he who after sinning has practiced
repentance, is a worthy object not of grief but
of congratulations, having passed over into
the choir of the righteous.
My Brother, sister and mother
31 Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. 32 And a multitude was sitting around
Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.” 33 But He answered them,
saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” 34 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My
mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My
sister and mother.” Mk 3:31-35
One verse before our reading
But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.” Mk 3:21
(St. John Chrysostom)We, who were not
worthy of earthly glory, are lifted up to the kingdom of heaven; enter heavens, and
take our place before the divine throne.
