Prayer - Outreach - Ministry - Fellowship
Our new Sunday School class for young couples who have been married 10 years or less begins
this Sunday! I am very excited about the new doors of opportunity this class will open. The
Young Married class will meet in the Choir Room, with John Johnson teaching. Please pray
that God will use this class to reach some young families for Jesus and help its members grow
in Christ-likeness.
Door Hanger Campaign – Saturday, September 7 at 9:00 a.m.
CAN YOU HELP?
All you need to do is place a door hanger on each home on your route. You don’t have to
share the Gospel or even knock on any doors. If you can walk you can do this.
Sign up is underway. We need to know how many are coming so we know how to prepare the
routes and door hangers. Please sign up this week on the sheet in the Worship Center lobby,
Fellowship Hall, or College & Career building. If you miss those sheets please call the church
office (229-242-1426), or you can call or text me (229-560-9013). The more people who sign
up, the more homes we can reach. The neighborhoods we’re planning to cover include almost
800 homes, but if we have enough sign up we’ll add another neighborhood.
Meet in the Fellowship Hall a little before 9:00 a.m. on September 7. Coffee and donuts will
be provided when you arrive. Get a partner or a team. I’ll give brief instructions and give out
routes, then you can go on out. You’ll be finished in less than an hour and you do not need to
come back to the church. No childcare is provided for this event. Your kids will enjoy helping
put out the door hangers. It’s a great way to start teaching them to reach out to others.
Back to Church Sunday
Use the Invite Cards you received Sunday to invite your unchurched friends and acquaintances to come to church
with you on September 15. Tell those you invite to look at our special web page – www.morningside.ws/
backtochurch. They’ll find all they need to know to make their first visit. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see your
friend trust Jesus Christ for salvation? As the man in the video we watched Sunday said, when he finally agreed to
go to church with his daughter, “That’s the day I got saved!” It could be that way for your friend, family member,
co-worker, or neighbor – if you invite them.
Look for opportunities to give out those Invite Cards. God bless you!

FRONT BACK
THIS Thursday, August 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Please pray that God will bless as we seek to reach out to thousands of VSU students. We plan to give away about
2,000 of our green tote bags containing gospel tracts, Sunday School quarterlies, and information about our church.
We also plan to give away 1,200 bottles of cold water (Matt. 10:42) and all of your home-baked goodies. Ask God to
spark spiritual hunger in the lives of some of the students and to use our efforts to reach some for Jesus Christ.
We need COOKIES! Please bake (or purchase) some cookies, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, or other goodies for
The Happening. Here are the instructions:
Individually wrapped – Put 1 or 2 cookies in a ziploc bag.
Disposable containers – Put the bags of goodies in a cardboard box, bag, or other disposable container.
Prayer – Please take a moment to pray over your goodies. Ask God to use them to draw someone to faith in
Christ and to a church home in Valdosta.
Please bring your baked goodies to the Fellowship Hall
THIS Wednesday, August 28.

Thank you, Youth Choir, for blessing and challenging us as you sang a song that could have been picked to go with
Brother Wayne’s sermon. You are a blessing to our church family. We will commit to pray for our youth to be a bold
witness for the cause of Christ.
1Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions. 2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!

LORD HAVE MERCY
Steve Merkel
Jesus, I've forgotten the words that You have spoken;
Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim.
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom.
Forgive me for my unbelief; renew the fire again.
Lord, have mercy;
Christ, have mercy;
Lord, have mercy on me.
I have built an altar where I worship things of man.
I have taken journeys that have drawn me far from You.
Now I am returning to Your mercies ever flowing.
Pardon my transgressions; help me love You again
Lord, have mercy;
Christ, have mercy;
Lord, have mercy on me.
I have longed to know You and Your tender mercies,
Like a river of forgiveness, ever flowing without end.
So I bow my heart before You in the goodness of Your presence,
Your grace forever shining like a beacon in the night.
Lord, have mercy;
Christ, have mercy;
Lord, have mercy on me.
Last Wednesday night The Youth continued our deep dive into understanding "bravery" or
"courage" as commanded in the Bible in Joshua 1:9. We followed scripture and discovered
where it teaches that often to be brave we must be strong and take a stand. That means to stand
for what's right; to stand for Christ; and as Satan's fiery darts fly at us we must still STAND!!
We also took another turn at building up a fortress for us to hide behind or to escape to. Our
"Fortress Defense Award Winners" this week are: Rylin Strickland, AJ Shaw, Alex Walker, Kate
Craven, Autumn Fogarty, and Kayla Wiley. Great job to all (and AJ & Rylin are back to back
winners)!!
We will host an “After Glow” this Sunday evening after the Worship service and conclude by 10:30 p.m.
Please keep in mind several approaching events:
►Sunday September 1 – After Glow ►Sunday September 8 – Annual Parent Meeting
►Saturday September 21 – Back to School Bash ►Monday October 14 – Middle School Madness
Keep the Faith!!
