BASC Bluegrass Night Presents Peter Feldmann & Blaine Sprouse
Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 8:00 PMViva Cantina * 900 Riverside Drive * Burbank CA 91506
BASC is proud to present a special performance by two of the most influential and highly respected artists in the Southern California bluegrass scene today. Peter Feldmann and Blaine Sprouse will be joined on stage by friends and fellow musicians to create an unforgettable evening of bluegrass. Peter Feldmann is a singer and multi-instrumentalist with many years of performing experience throughout California and the West. Peter has been presenting bluegrass, folk, string band, and related musics since the early 1960's, and is the founder of the Santa BarbaraOld Time Fiddler's Convention, and the original Bluebird Cafe in Santa Barbara. Peter's tribute CD to Uncle Dave Macon, “Grey Cat On The Tennessee Farm,” was named to the nation's Top Ten bluegrass albums of 2005 by the Chicago Tribune. Peter was given a Music Legend Award by the Topanga Banjo/Fiddle Association in 2008.Blaine Sprouse, one of the country's finest fiddlers, was a Blue Grass Boy for Bill Monroe for several months, filling in when a hand injury sidelined Kenny Baker. He repeated this role on subsequent occasions.Subbing for Eddie Stubbs, Sprouse later donned a Johnson Mountain Boys hat for their tour of Moscow.
Much in demand as sideman and session player, Blaine toured and recorded with a stunning array of legendary bluegrass and country artists, among them, Charlie Louvin, Jim and Jesse and the
Virginia Boys, and the Osborne Brothers. Blaine has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry numerous times. He joined banjo innovator Butch Robins to found The Bluegrass Band, and considers Kenny Baker his chief source of inspiration.
Our new venue at Viva Cantina offers ample table seating and a full menu of Mexican and American food, including margaritas and beer at reduced prices. Viva Cantina is easy to find and there is ample parking at the bowling alley across the street. Best of all, admission is free.
