* The Selena Gomez Netflix series 13 Reasons Why has been filming in and around Vallejosince June. Paramount Television is using several locations in downtown Vallejo. They havealso used the interior of a local restaurant and a Vallejo apartment building. Paramount hasalso rented stage space at the new Mare Island Studios, where they have constructed setsto replicate various locations. Filming on 13 Reasons Why is scheduled to continue throughNovember.

* In 1853, Commodore David G. Farragut was selected to create the Mare Island Navy Yard in
Vallejo. On September 16, 1854 Mare Island became the first permanent United States naval
installation on the west coast. The Mare Island Naval Shipyard served the United States for
over 142 years before its closure on April 1, 1996.
