Dear Parents, Staff and Children,
Camp
From the 27th – 29th November, our Year 3 /4 students spent three sunny days at Lady Northcote Camp in Bacchus Marsh. Albeit a bit warm, the
children had a fantastic time participating in the various activities such as yabbying, giant swing, canoeing, archery, hut building, bush cooking
and more. Many thanks to Mrs. Norris and the 3 /4 team for their work in preparation for the camp and to Mr. Payton, Mr. Gregory, Ms. Moore
and again Mrs. Norris for ensuring a wonderful camping experience for the children. I also extend my sincerest thanks to our parent helpers who
attended the camp, Laurelle Gardner, Paul Attwell, Margot Darmody and Jan Gielnik. Your hands on involvement and assistance is greatly
appreciated. Without the support of our parents, these opportunities would not be possible.
Staffing 2018
At the end of the year, we sadly say goodbye to the following staff members.
Mrs. Norris will be retiring after a career that has spanned more than forty years, 28 of which have been spent at Sunbury West. We thank Mrs.
Norris for her dedication and commitment to state education. She has made a significant impact on the lives of many and has made valuable
contributions to our school. We appreciate Mrs. Norris’ wealth of experience and love of working with children. We know that Mrs. Norris takes
with her many fond memories of her life and time in the teaching profession and of the many families she has worked with. We sincerely
appreciate her hard work over the years and wish her all the very best as she embarks on this new stage of her life.
We also say goodbye to Mr. Gregory, who has taken up a position at Newbury Primary School. Mr. Gregory came to our school as a graduate
teacher three years ago and quickly found his place in education. We thank Mr. Gregory for all his work during this time and wish him all the best
at his new school.
Mrs. Wlodarska also leaves us at the end of the year. Mrs. Wlodarska has worked with us this year, re-introducing our languages program in the
P – 2 area. We are grateful for all her work and wish her well as she continues her role as Japanese teacher at Sunbury PS.
With goodbyes, we also have welcomes.
We welcome Mr. Eric Penny to the school next year who will be transitioning to us from Romsey PS. It was great that Mr. Penny could join us
during our recent curriculum day to be part of our planning for 2018.
We also welcome Ms Ako Sueyoshi as our new Japanese teacher. Ms. Sueyoshi will be taking up a 0.6 position with us, meaning that we can
extend our languages program from P – 6 next year.
We look forward to having these new staff members on board.
Carols On The Green
Thankyou to the small but enthusiastic group of students who represented our school at Carols on the Green on Saturday night. They have spent
many weeks rehearsing during lunchtimes and were very excited at the prospect of participating in this community event. Thankyou to Mrs.
Lardner for her coordination of this.
As this is our last newsletter for the year, I extend warmest wishes to all our families during the holiday period. On behalf of the staff, I also thank
the many parents who actively contribute to the many facets of school life, ensuring that our kids have the best opportunities possible. We thank
parents for their ongoing support of their children and our school and we look forward to seeing everyone in the new year.

Christmas on the Green
On Saturday 9th December our choir students performed at
Christmas on the Green.
The students had a wonderful time performing.
On Saturday night last week the choir members went to the
Carols on the Green. There were a lot of schools there and they
sang all kinds of carols. We sang the Inglewood Carol and in
France they have Pere Noel.
Teisha Menezes 3/4T
It was a great success and we had a very big applause. The choir
members were a fantastic representatives for Sunbury West PS.
We were all proud of ourselves.
