All state park islands and Tu rkey Creek camping areas requ ire a camping permit. Permits can be obtained throu gh the Tims Ford State Park v isitor center. Only one grou p per island is permitted. Permits are on a first come, first serv e basis. Camping is allow ed on TVA lands u nless otherw ise posted. No camping is allow ed on TWRA lands. See the map for additional campgrou nds.

Wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Gu ard approv ed lifejacket at all times w hile on the w ater.
Be v isible! Wear bright clothing. Nev er paddle alone. File a trip plan. Notify family or friends
of you r rou te and planned time and location of retu rn. Check w ater lev els and the w eather forecast before
departing. Dress appropriately. Know how to safely enter, ex it, and paddle you r canoe or
kayak. Know how to get ou t of, hang on to, and re-enter you r capsized boat.
Do not paddle u nder the influ ence of dru gs or alcohol, w hich impair the coordination and balance you need to control a canoe, kayak, raft or SUP.
