Short course description:

The course is aimed at improving students’ Englishlanguage grammar and communication skills at C1level. The course includes: present and past tenses,auxiliary, modal, state and action verbs, formation ofquestions, conditional clauses, emphatic structures,connectives, infinitive and gerund constructions. Theform of studies is blended learning: classes, seminars,individual work, work in interactive Moodle environment(synchronous/ asynchronous consultations, discussionforums, individual work applying theoretical material inpractice).

Course content:

Present, Past and Future tenses;

Continuous and Perfect aspects;

Modality of verbs;

Adjectives of the English language;

Linkers;

Subordinate clauses of all types;

Infinitive, Gerund and Participial constructions;

Emphatic constructions: inversion, fronting, cleftsentences;

Future forms with – to be;

Future – in the – Past;

Passive voice, Passive causative constructions ;

Education and employment;

International relations;

Health and care;

Fashion and consumerism;

Modern technologies;

Journalism and media;

Law and society.Grading and evaluatingstudent work in classand/or at the final exam:

Midterm - 20 %, final test - 30%, class work - 50 %.
