PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
25th October 2018
Term 4 Week 2 Term Four is well and truly off and away here at Tomaree Public School. We currently have Stage Three away on
camp, gymnastic sessions are running every Wednesday and Thursday across Kindergarten to Year 6, swimming on
2
Fridays for primary students and our inaugural school Fun Run is just one week away. A huge thank you to all of the
staff, parents and P and C members who have helped organise and run these great events and activities at our
school.
Fun Run Fundraiser Our school Fun Run Fundraiser is on Friday 2nd November. We currently have around $9500 raised and registered
online towards our target goal of $30000. The funds are going towards the resurfacing of the netball/basketball
court and installation of rotating goal posts. Please continue raising funds and putting the details online, via the Fun
Run Fundraising online page. If you need details on this process please see the brochure attached to this week’s
newsletter.
Enrolments
We are now starting to plan our classes for next year and need to know if you will be sending your child to
Kindergarten in 2019, or if your family or child will be leaving our school at the end of the year. Please contact the
office as soon as possible, or let your child’s classroom teacher know if you intend to enrol a child or if will be leaving
Tomaree Public School.
Student and family details
Family circumstances and contact details change from time to time. At times, the office or classroom teachers need
to make contact with parents / carers for important events, activities or emergencies, and often the contact details
are incorrect. If your family or emergency contact details have changed, can you please let the office know either in
writing, email or in person. Updated information can be directly emailed to - [email protected]
Swimming
Students from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be participating in swimming sessions every Friday at the Tomaree Aquatic
Centre. Students need to bring swimmers, a towel, goggles (if they have them) and payment for the pool entry.
Payment for the pool is $3.50. Students who have a ‘Pool Pass’ may use this for their payment, however, it needs to
be presented each week as they enter the pool facility. Students that have been selected not to attend swimming
will be participating in either bowling or school sport and will need to bring the appropriate money or equipment to
attend.
Intensive Swimming – Year 2
Students from Year 2 will be participating in the intensive Learn to Swim program each day during Weeks 5 and 6
(Monday 12th November – Friday 23rd November) at the Tomaree Aquatic Centre. Students need to bring swimmers,
a towel, goggles (if they have them) and payment for the pool entry. Payment for the pool is $35.00 and last day for
payment is Wednesday 7th November.
Year 6 Fair
Our Annual Year 6 Fair is on Tuesday, 6th November 2018, as part of the end of year celebrations for theYyear 6
students. This is a wonderful experience for the Year 6 students to practise their organisational and leadership skills
in a big event situation.
There will be games to play, similar to sideshow alley, such as sock wrestling, target games and obstacle courses.
Entry into the games will be $5 per student, this is to be prepaid at the office. There will also be some stalls selling
second hand toys and lucky dips for 20c, 50c and $1 for students to purchase on the day. Please do not send these
extra coins to school before the day of the fair, they are to be brought to school only on the Year 6 Fair day.
I am hoping that the whole school will be able to join in the celebrations on the day in support of our Year 6
students.
Take care and have a wonderful week

SOCCER GALA DAY On Friday 19th October, the Girls and Boys A’s and B’s soccer teams travelled to Mallabula Sports Complex to compete
against seven local schools in the Port Stephens GALA Day.
Our Boy’s A Team came first in their ‘pool’, to go through to compete in the semi-final against Shoal Bay, in which they
unfortunately lost 1-0. The boys played exceptionally well against this very strong side and showed significant
improvement from their previous tournament earlier this year.
Our Boys B Team lost in some very close matches but showed great promise for next year’s competition.
Congratulations to our Girls A and B Teams which both won their initial competition pools, got through to their semi-
finals and then into their Grand Final games. Unfortunately, both teams went down to the Tanilba Bay P.S. teams in
these finals, but each player should be very proud of their amazing efforts throughout the day.
Thank you to Soldiers Point Bowling Club for lending us their courtesy bus, to our wonderful parents/carers who came
along on the day to show their support and to those who helped drive the remainder of our 45 players to the venue -
we couldn’t have done it without you!
All in all, it was a very successful tournament. Our students represented Tomaree Public School with the upmost of
integrity and must be commended for their excellent attitudes and fine sportsmanship.
Michelle Donovan (Boys Coach) and Jess Sullivan (Girls Coach)
