Decisions, Decisions
During implementation of a new product or service, Citi’s implementation
person will conduct a discovery session to identify the file that will best
meet your needs.
Examples of questions:
– Frequency of the file: some files are available 7 days per week; others
are available 5
– Does your file need to include data from a third party source, such as a
travel agency? If so, the file may need to have a “lag” to wait for the
enhanced data to arrive
– Does the target system already have an interface module available? If
so, the implementation may be simpler, if the format can be leveraged
– Will the program be implemented in more than one country? If so, there
may be more than one file needed
– Are there limitations in the target system that will need to be
addressed? Some systems, for example, cannot accommodate dual
currency processing or 16 digit account numbers.
Choosing the right file can be overwhelming. Citi’s consultative approach to data integration
assists clients in selecting the most appropriate file type available.

Global Standard
Too Many Files
1 Having too many files can mean increased costs, particularly for files delivered to 3rd parties
Differing Versions
2 Different versions means more maintenance and overhead costs to you
Data Differences
3 For some, different files means differences in data.
Challenge: Hitting the Target
1

In the world of files, more is not necessarily better. Citi targets delivery of standard files
with unique configurations to Simplify the integration process.
