Tree Plantation Program (July 17, 2013)
Report
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Shri B. M. Shah College of Pharmaceutical education and
research, Modasa had organized a Tree Plantation Programme on July 17, 2013. Dr. Arunbhai N. Shah,
Mr. Navinbhai R. Modi, Mr. Surendrabhai Shah, President, Vice President and Secretary of M. L. Gandhi
Higher Education Society, Modasa, Dr. N. M. Patel - Principal of the college, Mr. Jitendra G. Patel -
Programme Officer NSS, Dr. Amit A. Patel and Faculty Members of the college and around 50 NSS
Volunteers were participated in this event.
Plants were collected from Mazum Nursery, Modasa by NSS Volunteers. Proper place was identified for
plantation in Medicinal Garden situated in the college premises and made it ready for plantation.
Around 50 Plants of seven Medicinal plants variety like; Amala (Emblica officinalis), Baheda (Terminalia
belerica), Aritha (Sapindus trifoliatus), Saptaparni (Alstonia scholaris), Garmalo (Cassia fistula),Brahmi
(Bacopa monnieri) and Barmasi (Vinca roseus) were planted. They were well labeled for identification by
placing name plates. Each plant was allotted to NSS Volunteers for maintenance and nourishment
throughout the year. The Faculty members from Pharmacognosy department provided the information
about the importance of plantation in protection of environment. Program was ended with light snacks
and tea. Program officer thanked for the gesture of the volunteer spirit so enthusiastically displayed
and office bearer of management for inspiring the students by sparing their valuable time.
