Trust us, you’ve never worked at a place like Cummins
As we prepare for a new intake of graduate placements, let me be the first to say “Welcome to Cummins”. Personally, it takes me back to my first experience as an intern; working at one of the company’s manufacturing plants, whilst still studying at Stanford Business School. It was the beginning of a journey that saw me return as a permanent employee and luckily enough have the opportunity to grow and develop in a global business that has enjoyed remarkable success.
From your perspective it’s an indication of what’s possible for anyone who acknowledges there are no limits or barriers to what you can do or achieve. Given our global footprint and range of businesses Cummins is a terrific place to work and a great place to progress. But to be successful, you must be committed to lifelong learning, want to be challenged and share our values, which are not ‘just words on a 3 x 5 index card’ – but beliefs we all embrace.
Good luck on the road ahead.
Tom LinebargerCEO and Chairman

Here’s just one of our success stories...Lorena Garcia Fernandez - Product Engineer • Cummins Turbo Technologies
After I graduated with a BEng & MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad Carlos III from Madrid in Spain & Italy, I moved to the UK to work as a graduate engineer in Cummins Turbo Technologies; highly attracted by their core values and their focus on diversity. I think that creating a team of engineers from different backgrounds, with different opinions, is the best way to solve any complex engineering problem. That is why I truly enjoyed the working environment in Cummins where I could see those values being put into practice from day one.
Within the company I initially held different roles as part of the graduate rotation programme having the opportunity of discovering different functional areas and which one was most appealing to me for a long term career. After 12 months I decided to apply for a product engineering role in new product development.
After that I worked in several teams some of them more oriented to develop the next generation products, and some of them focusing on specific customer projects, tailoring our catalogue of products for specific customer installations. All roles have been rich and varied allowing me to steadily increase my responsibility within the projects and develop further as an engineer and a technical leader. Throughout my development the company has heavily invested in me by training and coaching me through my individual development plan to help me achieve my full potential which has allowed me to enhance my abilities and progress within the business.
Currently I am a Systems Engineer at Cummins Turbo Technologies. Within only 4 years I am now in a position where I lead the engineering work to create an upgraded catalogue for the Heavy Duty product range. I am also supported by the company as I work towards obtaining my Chartership with the IMechE and alongside my everyday job I regularly get involved in STEM events to try and attract more talent into engineering – Cummins heavily supports doing the right thing for the industry and our communities – which also enriches my daily job allowing me to gain many additional and transferable skills.
