We welcome our new
Associate Pastor,Cheryl Jones
Greetings
in the Name
of Our
Risen Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ,
It is with great joy that I come to you
today. This month is the beginning of
our annual conference year and the
beginning of my time in service and
fellowship with you. I am excited to be
coming on board as your new Associate
Pastor and in becoming acquainted with
each of you.
Earlier this month my husband, Odis,
was co-chair of a family reunion
gathering for his mothers side of the
family. What a great time we had. Most
of us knew one another, many of us
hadnt seen one another in some time.
There was a small contingency of family
members who we had to become
acquainted with. These were persons
who were unknown prior to this time or
newly married into the family, yet we
are all family. That is how I see each of
you. We have not yet met but I see all ofus as members in the family of God.
Now we just need to become ac-
quainted.
My husband, Odis, and I have been
married for 25 years. We dont have any
children but there are plenty of them in
our life. He is originally from Tulsa,
OK and I am from Kansas City, MO. My
educational background includes a
Bachelors degree from Lincoln Univer-sity and a Masters degree from Ohio
State; both in Speech Pathology. In May,
2011, I completed my Maser of Divinity
degree from Perkins School of Theol-
ogy/SMU. I am a Provisional Elder on
track for ordination in 2013 in the North
Texas Conference.
Some other little things about me: I
love to read. I recently completed
Walking the Labyrinth as a Spiritual
Direction. I am currently reading,
Singing the Lords Song in a Strange
Land by Rev. Joseph Lowery. I love
reading anything that Rev. Max Lucado
writes and mysteries such as the ones by
Agatha Christie and Mary Higgins
Clark. I like to bowl and I play a little
tennis. However, I prefer watching
professional sports. Football is my
favorite (esp. Kansas City Chiefs),
basketball at playoff time, track and
field and tennis. I love playing games
and I am known for stomping visitors

TSUMC Soccer Camp 2011 was a huge success! Sixty kids from North Oak Cliff
learned the power of teamwork and Christ-like sportsmanship in this five day camp
coached by Matthew Whiteley. Special thanks to Toch Ihemelu, Chris Huggins,
Mary Kathryn Skinner, Caleb and Titus Hunt and Maria Rios for all of their hard
work.
