Synchronous (live)During the social studies class time that would normally meet with Ms. Miller, if not MAP testing, the homeroom teacher may choose to briefly introduce the social studies lesson and release students to ELT*.
*ELT means “Extended Learning Time” and is embedded during the school day and on Wednesdays.
Asynchronous (recorded & independent work) All materials and videos are available in Google Classroom. This weekly unit may be assigned during the ELT* times.
. Unit 2: Pecha Kucha for Social Studies . You need open EVERY CLASS or AS NEEDED in separate tabs.
1. Tab #1: Login to Microsoft Teams that your Homeroom teacher has you sign in to normally. [Use ALT+TAB or split screen.]
2. Tab #2: Login to Google Classroom for Computer Lab.
3. Tab #3: Your Google Slides file. It is in Google Drive after you create it.
4. Tab #4: Websites for your research media found in Google Classroom.
5. Tab #4: If you are recording, paste your “publish to the web” slideshow URL
6. Tab #5: If you are recording, open Flipgrid in a new tab.
CTRL+T opens a new tab. CTRL+N opens a new window.
ALT+TAB lets you quickly change between tab-windows.

2. Change the Title Slide.
3. Research on your Social Studies topic specifically for each slide.
4. By the end of the class you should have completed 3 to 5 slides.

3. Finish 10 to 20 slides.
4. Publish to Web.
5. By the end of the class record your voice and slide show in Flipgrid.

2. “Make a Copy” of a Google Slides template.

3. Change the name of your Google Slides from Copy of Social Studies Pecha Kucha to “YOUR1stNAME Social Studies Pecha Kucha”

1. Open your existing Google Slides. It’s in your Google Drive.
2. In Google Slides, change the Title Slide from the template.
3. Research your Social Studies topic specifically, for each slide.
a. Use the template slides to your advantage.
b. There are titles and keywords to research on the template.
c. Type speaker notes for facts, dates, places from your research.
d. By the end of the class today, you should have completed 3 to 5 slides.

2. Continue your research on your Social Studies topic specifically for each slide.
3. Scan through the template slides.
a. Delete any you know you do not want to research.
b. You can change the order of the template slides.
c. Research your Social Studies topic specifically, for each slide.
4. By the end of the class today, you should have completed 6 to 15 slides.
5. By the end of this unit, you need to create between 10 to 20 slides.

Week 4October 26 - 30
1. Open your existing Google Slides and finish you research on your Social Studies topic specifically for each slide. Finish creating 10 to 20 slides.
2. By the halfway point of class -- “Publish to Web”a. File → Publish to the Web → 10 seconds → Publish → OK → Copy the
URL Link (CTRL+C) → open a new tab (CTRL+T) → paste the URL in the new tab (CTRL+V) → click enter.
3. By the end of the class record your voice and slide show in Flipgrid.a. Flipgrid Pecha Kucha for Social Studies → Record → Options → Record
Screen → Start Screen Recording → Your Entire Screen → Share...start talking about your slides. Finish the Flipgrid by following the prompts.
Independent Work PeriodBy the end of the period you will have a Pecha Kucha Presentation
