Beach Energy also received a Commonwealth $6 million Gas Acceleration Program (GAP) grant to underpin accelerated investment in a new gas processing facility to produce gas from the Haselgrove field and future gas discoveries

Timeline• Pipeline infrastructure – access to SE Australian gas

market via SESA and SEA Gas Pipelines

• Beach Energy’s Katnook petroleum processing plant is currently mothballed, but Beach plan to build a new gas processing plant for the region

• Ladbroke Grove power plant currently supplied with interstate gas via the SEA Gas and SESA pipelines

Infrastructure

• The Early Jurassic – Late Cretaceous Otway Basin contains both mature and immature conventional gas play trends in four prospective troughs, with potential for oil discoveries

• Acreage availability – competitive tender region. No current acreage releases

Prospectivity

• Round 1 – Beach Energy’s Haselgrove 3 ST1 gas discovery well was co-funded by a $6 million PACE Gas grant

• Round 2 – Beach Energy’s Dombey 1 well and Vintage Energy/Rawson Oil and Gas Nangwarry 1 will receive PACE Gas funding of $5.26 million and $4.95 million respectively

PACE Gas Grants

• In January 2018, Beach Energy announced a new gas field discovery at Haselgrove 3 ST1

• The project received $6 million PACE Gas funding from PACE Gas Round 1

• Successful test of a new deep conventional gas play

• Gas flows of up to 25 mmscfd were encountered over a 108m gross gas column with 34m pay during drill stem testing and production testing

• Initial Production Testing was conducted from 10 February to 14 March and confirmed excellent gas deliverability and low inert content (~5%) of Sawpit Sandstone gas

• Beach report that development concepts are being assessed to determine commercial options. On 28 March, it was announced that Beach was awarded a $6 million grant under the Australian Government’s Gas Acceleration Program (GAP) to partially fund a proposed new Katnook Gas Processing Facility

Haselgrove 3 Otway Basin gas discovery

• In March 2018 the Federal Government awarded a $6 million Gas Acceleration Program (GAP) grant to Beach Energy to construct a new $22.6 million Katnook Gas Processing Facility

• A new gas plant would be required to bring gas from Haselgrove-3 ST1 to market

• The Plant is planned to have the potential to process up to 10 terajoule per day of gas

GAP Grant for Katnook Gas Processing Facility

• On 7 February 2018 the South Australian Government partnered with the CSIRO to conduct research into the social and environmental impact of the gas industry in the South East

• The partnership will enable CSIRO’s Gas Industry Social and Environmental Research Alliance, or GISERA, to conduct studies on the impacts of key issues of concern to communities in the region
