1 Background
eSight MicroDC is a unified monitoring and management software system of Huawei Micro
Data Center (MicroDC). It provides the following functions:
Unified monitoring and management functions, such as centralized network element (NE)
management, branch topology, intuitive physical view, and L1 resource management.
Site deployment, expansion, and maintenance functions, such as import of configuration
data and quick start.
eSight MicroDC provides a unified interface to manage different types of L1 and L2 devices,
increasing O&M efficiency and reducing the technical requirements for O&M personnel.
In a data center, layer 1 (L1) refers to the facilities, layer 2 (L2) refers to the IT infrastructure, and layer
3 (L3) refers to the service platform.
This document describes the eSight MicroDC functions and solution from a technical point of
view.

3 Solution
3.1 Solution Overview
3.1.1 MicroDC Positioning
Huawei MicroDC is targeted for organizational branches of large enterprise customers. It
provides network and service access for enterprise branches and implements centralized
O&M of the branches. MicroDC also supports quick installation and service deployment,
ensuring rapid service provisioning.
Figure 3-1 illustrates the positioning of MicroDC.

Large enterprise customers have the following problems in IT O&M:
Poor IT technical support in branches
Lack of unified O&M platform for devices
Lack of centralized monitoring the environment and power supply status of the
equipment room
Complicated configurations involved in deployment of multiple branches

3.2 Typical Scenarios
3.2.1 Site Deployment and Expansion
Quick Deployment by Importing the Configuration File
You can import the configuration file of the racks and devices in the MicroDC. The system
automatically adds the MicroDC, racks, and devices and generates a device view. The import
function allows site deployment to be performed by simply clicking the mouse, greatly
increasing site deployment efficiency.

Manual Site Deployment and Expansion
eSight MicroDC provides Quick Start to help you easily perform site deployment and
expansion.
To deploy a MicroDC, follow the steps provided on the GUI:
1. Create a MicroDC
2. Add Resources
You can add the MicroDC devices one by one or click Automatic Discovery to add
MicroDC devices to eSight.
3. Configure devices
You can add racks, add devices to the MicroDC, and install devices.
To expand the MicroDC capacity, perform any of the proceeding operations based on site
requirements.

eSight provides a unified interface to implement monitoring and maintenance of the
MicroDC.

You can learn the following information about the MicroDC:
− Basic information: includes the basic MicroDC information, uninterruptible power
supply (UPS) list, rack list, and the last 10 active alarms.
− Performance measurement information: includes information about the top 5 racks
sorted by front door temperature, rear door temperature, and humidity respectively,
and top 5 UPSs sorted by power consumption.
− Alarm information: includes the active alarms of all NEs in the MicroDC.
Device view
eSight provides an intuitive view of MicroDC racks, through which you can manage and
configure the racks.
MicroDC Logical Topology
eSight MicroDC provides two types of topology:
Logical topology of MicroDCs
Topology of devices in each MicroDC
Through the logical topology, you can learn status of all MicroDCs and alarms of each
MicroDC visually.

On the MicroDC logical topology view, there is a logical link between the LocalNMS and
each MicroDC. The shortcut menu provides the following functions:
Alarm list: You can view active alarms of all devices in the MicroDC on the page
displayed.
NE management: You can view the basic information and performance statistic
information about the MicroDC on the page displayed.
Device view: You can view the device view of the MicroDC on the page displayed.

Intuitive Device View
eSight MicroDC provides an intuitive device view, through which you can learn the
configuration and alarms of MicroDC racks and devices and configure and manage the racks
and devices. The intuitive device view simplifies O&M operations and increases efficiency.

The device view provides the following functions:
Monitoring
− Device presentation: displays all the racks and devices in a MicroDC.
− Alarm monitoring: displays alarms of devices in different colors.
− Video monitoring: allows you to switch to the web network management page by
clicking the camera icon on top of the rack. After logging in to the web network
management page, you can view the video monitoring information in realtime or
replay the video monitoring information.
Management
− Rack configuration: allows you to add or delete a rack and provides a configuration
wizard for creating racks and adding devices.
− Device configuration: allows you to install, uninstall, or delete devices.
− Accessory configuration: allows you to install, uninstall, or delete accessories.
MicroDC accessories include battery packs, power distribution boxes (PDBs), and
UPSs.
L1 Resource Management
eSight provides basic management of L1 devices, including environment control units (ECUs)
and MicroDC cameras. It provides the basic information and maintenance entries of an NE in
a unified interface, facilitating NE-based monitoring and maintenance.

Figure 3-8 L1 device management
L1 device management provides the following functions:
View
− Basic information: displays basic NE information.
The EMU monitors power supply information, such as the input/output voltage,
input/output frequency, active power output, load ratio, power supply mode, battery
voltage, and battery remaining capacity. Environment indicator information includes
the cabinet front/rear door temperature, cabinet humidity, cabinet front/rear door
status, internal/external smoke sensor, water sensor, and motion detection
information.
− Alarm list: displays active alarms of the current NE.
Configuration
You can switch to the web network management page and configure L1 devices.
Protocol parameter management
You can set or modify SNMP parameters.

4 Conclusion
eSight MicroDC implements unified monitoring and management of multiple MicroDCs. It
