November 27 the Lakeland fire-men were called to 77 West FifthStreet where a fire had started ina chair. No one was at home huta house fire alarm system gave J.ewarning and a Lakeland firemanwho happened to be in the vicini tyalerted the fire department. Twotrucks quickly responded andthere was lit t le damage. DecemberI the Lakeland firemen were calledto Central Islip Boulevard wherethey extinguished a brush fire.The same day they extinguishedanother brush fire on KosevaloAvenue and Kingdom Couit.

Rev. Msgr.Charles K. Kermingham , execu-tive director. Largest of the p lan-ned expenditures is .$251,270 forthe four family service offices lo-cated in Lynbrook , Mineola , BayShore nnd Riverhead.

St. Anthony 's Guidance Clinicin Williston Park and the CatholicCharities Mental Health Center inBav Shore plan expenditures to-talling $14:1.513. The CatholicYouth Organization has been al-loted $75,805.

Child care services will cost$29 ,404. The health and hospitals,division and geriatrics programwill receive $28,200. The budgetcalls for $30,225 for the ClearyOral School for Deaf Children inLake Ronkonkoma. Other blindand deaf services have been al-loted $22 ,0115. The new St. Eliza-beth's Residence for the Aging inWest Islip has been given an in-itial appropriation of $13,270.

Direct income , such as fees ,state reimbursments and incomefrom CYO activities will accountfor an estimated $87,225 of theyear 's income. Catholic charitiesshare of the 1900 Long IslandFund Drive is expected to be ap-proximatley $32,000.

The net income from the I960bishop 's dinner at the GardenCity Hotel and the annual Cath-olic Charities ' appeal conduct edlast May amounted to $4118,942.It is hoped that the balance of$33,087 will be realized during thefiscal year by gifts from founda-tions , individuals a n d businessfirms.

BLUE POINT E L E M E N T A R YMrs. Alice Larrabee 's sixth grade

presented a play at the Fridayafternoon assembly at 1 o'clock inthe school audi tor ium - The themewas "Litterlmgs." The Jitterbugswere played by Marguerite Hanra-han. Chery l Scileppi , Steven Les-sey, Larry Taylor] James Garhart ,and Amy Peck and the clean-up-pers w-ere Jean Considine , TerryHuber, Margaret Vernon , ThomasSchaub , Michael Travers and BeUyJane Foy. The play was followedby a talk by Mr. Hawkins , prin-cipal , along the lines of keepingthe school grounds and communityclean.

Mrs. Sarah Howard's secondgrade gave a Thanksgiving playat an assembly program Novem-ber 22. All the children weredressed in Pilgrim costumes. Mr.Hawkins took motion pictures ofthe event which, with other pic-tures taken previously, will beshown at a future PTA meeting.

DIVIDENDS — The board ofdirectors of Long Island LightingCompany has declared regularquarterly dividends of $1.25 ashare on the Series B, 5 per centpreferred stock; $1.0025 a shareon the Series D, 4.25 per centpreferred stock; $1.0875 a shareon both the Series E , and F , 4.35per cent preferred stock; and $' .-28125 a share on the Series II.5Vs per cent preferred stock.

The dividends on all five issuesare payable January 1, 1901 toshareholders of record at the closeof business on December 12, 1960.
