haracter Sheets
Appendix 1:Character Sheets
Character sheets are provided so that all rel-evant information may be recorded regarding eachcharacter. Each player should photocopy the pagesof this appendix for their character so that the in-formation pertinent to their character may be ad-equately organized and accessible. With a set ofblank character sheets in hand, progress through thechapters of this book and follow the instructions tocreate a character.
The relevant information for a character isthe responsibility of the player, though the Aedilemay complete character sheets for prominent char-acters under their control. Always record the infor-mation with a pencil and have a good eraser handy. From experience, it is suggested that a player shouldwrite softly to preserve the paper of their charactersheets, since the act of erasing occurs often.
Once the character is created and all relevantinformation is recorded, staple the sheets togetherso that they do not become confused with the char-acter of another player. Seeking realism, some play-ers draw a sketch of their character and attach thedrawing to their character sheets. Character sketchesare useful, though certainly not required, since theyallow the Aedile and other players a better percep-tion of the character.
When a character dies, and when the char-acter will not be resurrected, the fate of the charac-ter sheets for the dead character are left to the player’swhim. Sometimes, the character sheets are donatedto the Aedile, who stores them for either future ref-erence (such as regarding possessions or wealth) orfuture use as a character who, after only minor modi-fications, may be reintroduced into the game assomeone new. In this way, Aediles have been knownto accumulate stockpiles of characters. Some play-ers prefer to honor their fallen character, giving thecharacter a symbolic funeral by setting the charactersheets ablaze outdoors. Other players simply prefertossing the character sheets in the trash. Finally, it iscommon for Aediles to have a houserule that thecharacter sheets of dead characters must be de-stroyed, usually torn to pieces, to prevent the playerfrom fraudulently reintroducing the character in afuture game or to another Aedile.
In any case, players are not obligated to usethe character sheets provided in this appendix, though using these sheets is probably the easiest andleast confusing method to organizing the informa-tion of a character.
