Extensive research in educational theory and
cognitive psychology proves that visual learning is among the most successful methods for teaching students. Many of the sites on the Southern Literary Trail offer discounted group and student rates for personal tours that allow visitors to step into the places that inspired some of the most famous Southern literature. Allow your students to personally
experience the history of literature that has influenced the region and its culture. Margaret Mitchell (house, above) wrote “Gone With the Wind” (above, right)during the time she lived at this house in Atlanta, Ga., between 1925 and 1932. The Margaret Mitchell house offers 60- to 90-minute docent-led tours, which feature letters written by Mitchell, a “Gone With the Wind” movie museum.
