PLAN FOR RADIANT SKIN THIS SEASON

A PLAN TO HELP YOU KEEP THATHEALTHY LOOKING GLOW.DON’T LET THE UPCOMING COLDERMONTHS GET THE BEST OF YOU.GET MORE RADIANT SKIN WITH THESE5 “MUST TRY” TIPS

As the temperature drop, it’s time to switch fromfoamy shower gels to more moisturizing cleansersand soaps. Look for products with some added oils.

Cold weather leads to low humidity, which leadsto dry skin and dry airways. Add humidity to theair in your room with an electric humidier.

Take warm, not hot, showers in the winter. And keep it short! Apply a rich moisturizers immediately after a shower. This locks in your skins natural moisture.

Try a rich body lotion or a cream with alpha-hydroxy acid to exfoliate the dryscales while hydrating your thirsty skin.(Vive favorite is Eucerin).

Fight back against dry hands and cracked ngertips that result from overexposure todry cold air and excessive hand washing. Applya rich hand cream to seal those cracks while you sleep. Apply before going to bed after you washyour hands.

The One Sexy Thing You’re Not Giving Him Enough Of

No, not that. And not that other thing either. We’re talking about cuddling. Really. Researchers just discovered it could be the secret to a blissfully happy relationship.

source woman health

Be the big spoon. We know, we just turned your universe upside-down. But if women can run Fortune 500 companies, get elected to office, and drive race cars, we can be the larger of the two utensils too. This isn’t just about exercising your rights as a woman though. Being the big spoon can be more pleasurable for both you and your guy.

Then further tweak your spooning technique. As an eating device, the spork totally sucks (seriously, what’s the point?), but as a cuddling position, it rocks. Here’s how you spork: Start in spooning position (you’re the little spoon this time). But instead of laying on your side with your knees touching each other, lay on your back (still in the crevice of his big spoon, though). Leave your bottom leg aligned with his legs, but throw the top leg over his. It’s more comfortable—no dead arm for you—and it allows you to kiss, unlike when you’re spooning.

Hold his forearm. Hand-holding is great in theory and romantic comedies. In a lot of real life situations and heat waves, it can be kind of awk (sweaty and clammy. Did we mention the heat wave?) Holding his forearm or the crook of his elbow; however, may sound strange, but it’s actually a pretty genius move. Men’s forearms are loaded with lots of nerve endings so touching him there will give him the warm and fuzzies. Plus, this move will make him feel like such a manly man. (Think of how couples used to walk in old time movies, the woman gripping his forearm as if she couldn’t walk down the street without him. Not that we’re all for that kind of relationship but we can be big spoons, remember.)

Let him use your lap as a pillow. Next time you’re watching TV together, sit at one end of the couch and have him lay down with his head resting on your thighs. His scalp is jam-packed with pleasure-sensing nerves and experts are constantly telling us that men’s ears are super sensitive to the touch as well. Treat him to a noggin massage then suggest he return the favor.

It’s stereotype-breaking time: A recent study of over 1,000 coupled -up people found that frequent cuddling was a predictor of relationship happiness and longevity among guys. And what’s more, gens who got that kind of TLC from their partners reported being more satised than the ones who didn’t.

You might be surprised, but psychologist and sex therapist wasn’t. “Men almost globally report enjoying when their partner’s initiate this type of touching." It’s all about sharing physically intimate moments and touching him in a way that sends the message, “I want to be with you, I choose you, I like being and feeling close to you”. Not sure how to get that message across? Here are four get-close moves that will boost your twosome happiness and if done in public, won’t make others gag. Much.

VOL 1 ISSUE 1 VIVECREOLE 45

When we arrived at our interview location, the beautiful Daniela Backer was there drenched with excitement and so were we; I knew we were in for a treat. Daniela was rocking her long authentic twists; she was wearing jeans, white tee and heels. This Boho-chic beauty was ready to bare all about who she is; no holds bar! As a first generation Haitian-American born and raised in South Florida; Daniela expresses her genuine love for her hometown here in Florida and professes that she cannot see herself living anywhere else. Daniela is the first of four children to attend college and receive a graduate degree. In her own words, “I was always an outgoing, loud and free-spirited girl and everyone always told me that I should be an attorney”. She reminisces about being in the fourth grade and doing a mock trial where she did the opening statement. That is when she discovered her love for defending people’s rights and speaking up on behalf of others; so she decided that she wanted to be an attorney. When asked to describe herself this is what she had to say, “I love to laugh and make other people laugh, I am the silliest of my business partners and my friends think I am goofy. I love dancing around and being silly with the kids. When I am in the office I skip in the halls or break out in ballerina moves (never took a ballet class in my life). I am super carefree and I am not easily embarrassed and I enjoy the simple things in life. It sounds cliché but I love rainbows, I enjoy watching planes take off and I am just thankful that I have never had an accident on 95 while taking my eyes off the road to watch the planes come in.” Happily married, Daniela blushingly shares how much she has been recently “sweating” her husband of five years, Patrick Backer. She expresses that she enjoys hanging out and traveling to other countries such as Egypt and Paris together. Their union produced a beautiful baby girl named Camille who is now two years old; Daniela describes as her heartbeat!

Daniela attended FAU as an undergrad and studied criminal justice. She took a year off from school with the hopes of becoming a flight attendant to travel the world. She bragged about being the “perfect flight attendant”, so she applied for a job with American Airlines and did not get the job. With no success at American Airlines, Daniela applied with United Airlines, but misfortune soon followed as she was denied the job. She said she could not understand why she wasn’t being hired; then, shortly after, the horrible events of 911 occurred. Daniela solemnly summed up her job misfortune as a blessing in disguise and calls it her God-Intervention. This propelled her to refocus on her life and to continue the journey of becoming an attorney. She then applied to law school at St. Thomas University and was accepted. Although she enjoyed being in law school but expressed how different it was for her in comparison to the other students. “A lot of my classmates have parents who are lawyers and who paved the way for them; I felt like the underdog not having the same privilege as they. I didn’t have the lavish lifestyle as my classmates but at the end of the day, I did not feel limited. I felt I had the same right as the next person, I was going to succeed at being an attorney.”

If you had not become a lawyer what would you be doing instead? “I love to dance, at one time in my life I wanted to be a back up dancer/choreographer. If money wasn’t an option, I would probably be a veterinarian, a grammar teacher, or a bird watcher, I love birds.” What would you say to those who feel inferior or crippled by past mistakes that they have made in their life? “After I graduated from high school, I attended University of Florida, during my first year of school I was caught up in foolishness. I had to withdraw from school and I transferred to FAU due to some trouble I got into. I remember my dad saying to me, this is nothing; this is not the worst of it…but it is the worst.. What about when you want to be a judge and be accepted into the bar? Do you think they are going to accept an attorney who’s had a troubled past? When I did graduate from law school I applied for the bar and was not accepted initially; I had to appeal it. The reason why I am sharing my life is to say, God is a God of second chances. I take an example of Judge Mathis and I would tell myself, if he can become a judge then I can become an attorney. For those who have made mistakes in the past and now feel hopeless, I say this. Our failures do not define who we are, every day is a new day and you have a choice to be what God created us to be. Remember, accomplish everything that our heart desires and learn to forgive yourself.” What is Social Esquire? “Social Esquire is a Boutique Marketing Company. We are comprised of three female attorneys which started initially wanting to plan professional events. We focus on quality events for professionals such as; wine tastings, dinner parties, speed dating and Luxe life Yacht parties, where we take boring out of networking. We have been so successful at developing the Social Esquire Brand for ourselves, that we’ve extended it out to the communities. Through the

different venues that was created by Social Esquire; we branched off into marketing, brand developing, social media solution and event marketing for our client’s brand.” When it comes to your culture and your upbringing, what were some of the principles that were instilled in you that helped in your growth as a person, an attorney, a mother and a professional Haitian Woman? “My mother was big on being a respectable person and she taught us to always tell the truth; she would say; don’t ever lie to me no matter what you do. So I grew up telling the truth. Haitians are big on their image and prestige. We have a lot, culturally and we are great people. I am not necessarily big on image per say, because I want to be accepted for who I am. I am not pretentious but as Haitians we must make sure that people can trust us, that we speak well and able to hold our head up high. I believe who we are has a lot to do with where we come from. When I got a tattoo on my foot, my dad hated it, you can’t really see it, but my father said; who is going to respect an attorney with a tattoo? I said it’s on my foot, but he said it doesn’t matter; I

I was always an outgoing, loud and freespirited girl and everyone always told me that I should be an attorney

VIVE FIT HABIT #1Staying hydrated, before, during and after you exercise.

Shapes Up: Your kidneys.

How It Works: When you’re drinking enough water, your kidneys have an easier time balancing your blood minerals, such as sodium, phosphorous and potassium. They don’t have to work quite as hard!

VIVE FIT HABIT #2Hitting the treadmill or trail four to five times per week.

Shapes Up: Your heart. How It Works: Regular cardio increases your heart’s efficiency. The better your cardiovascular fitness, the more blood your heart pumps per beat, which means it doesn’t have to work as hard to get the blood to the tissues.

VIVE FIT HABIT #3Joining an outdoor 5K training group.

Shapes Up: Your brain. How It Works: Exercise increases the flow of oxygen to your brain, and studies have shown that taking your workout outdoors can additionally increase your memory and attention.

VIVE FI T HABIT #4Skipping the “Happy Hour” when out with your pals.

Shapes Up: Your liver. How It Works:Alcohol is toxic to your liver and can lead to inflammation or permanent scarring of this organ. Avoid it to make sure that your liver’s function is not compromised.

VIVE FIT HABIT #5Starting your morning with some yoga or stretches.

Shapes Up: Your lungs. How it Works: Because it helps you gain control of the muscles in your diaphragm, core training (a large component of yoga and Pilates exercises) can strengthen lung function.

VIVEFIT

Your Forgotten Fit PartDid you know that your skin is an organ too? It’s actually the largest one, and it produces a new outer layer about once a month. Not only is your skin important in temperature regulation (a.k.a. sweating), but it’s also a barrier against infections. Proper hydration and getting enough non-saturated heart-healthy fat will keep your skin healthy. But perhaps the most important thing you can do is to wear sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection, even if you’re just out for a 30-minute walk.

BONUS

Let's face it: it's not all that difficult to start a fitness routine. After all, most of us have done it more than once.

The trouble, of course, comes with sticking with it. All too often, our initial enthusiasm and energy wanes, we get distracted by other things going on in our lives, or we don't think we're seeing results quickly enough; then we throw in the towel.

Yet many people do manage to hang in there and would no sooner skip their regular workout than their morning shower. What's their secret? Start with some basic fitness routine and follow these Vive fit habits to start putting your fitness priorities in the right place.
