Bowling Night By: Wendy McKenzie
Bowling Bikers?
The weather was cold enough only our brave Director rode to our annual H.O.G. Chapter Bowling night but
the spirits were warm enough once we got going! Though only 8 people had signed up we had 12 bowlers
and 10 cheerleaders, 11 if you count Simba!
Craig Gilmore got the first strike of the evening but Fingers was on hand to help remind some of us what
this whole bowling thing was about! Terri Jackels shared one of her special creations, peanut butter cupcakes
with a Reese’s peanut butter cup baked right in – delicious!
Ric McKenzie blew us all away by starting his second game with an amazing 4 strikes in a row! I think I may
have had 4 gutter balls in a row but even the computerized cheerleader didn’t seem to think that counted for
much.
It was a hard fought contest between Terri Jackels and Kelly Johansen for the new Lowest Score trophy but
Kelly won out in the end with much grace and laughter. We had special, new trophies this year created by
Fingers and engraved with all the pertinent stuff. Thank you Fingers!
The Flinstone award was a bit harder to chose this year as we all pretty much managed to stay on our feet
and out of the lanes. Terri finally deemed that it should be awarded to our most entertaining participant.
Connie Williams took the prize for her sweet efforts to kiss William’s knee when he hit it with the ball, run-
ning up on the lane to distract him and just being sometimes silly, wonderful self!
Ric took the High Score trophy after having an amazing night and racking up a total of 484 points. His se-
cond game final score was 191 and the computer informed us that he was now a proud member of the “175
Club” – we never did find out what the dues for that club are, but I am sure the computer will be in touch!
My second game was exactly 100, but I guess there isn’t a club for that.
All in all it was a great evening and really nice to share the laughs and good company! Our bowlers were:
Connie Williams, William ,Rick and Terri Jackels, Ric and Wendy McKenzie, Craig Gilmore, Dave Wilson, Kelly
Johansen, Terresa Tompkins, Bob Wiro and Fingers Jones. A special thanks to our wonderful cheerleaders:
Marlene and Louie Schroeder, Andy Johansen, Bob and Karen Brown, Don and Gayle Jacopi, Mark and Joanne
Dostal and Kelly’s friend (I’m sorry I didn’t get her name!). Pictures are courtesy of Karen Brown and Ric
McKenzie.
