Christ also promises that the more connected and involved we are in ministry, the more our faith will grow. So let’s all get connected, and Grow in Faith together!
Rally Day, Sunday, August 17th, officially marks the begin-ning of our new Church year! You might ask, Doesn’t Advent (November 30th) mark the be-ginning of the new Church year?” The answer of course is, “Yes, Advent does mark the beginning of a new liturgical year”, but Rally Day marks the beginning of a new year of church minis-tries and programs! On Rally day, all of our minis-tries, programs, groups and organizations present to the emerging St. B’s community what they do. Booths are set up with displays and information, and everyone is encouraged to stop by and visit each of them to consider how to find an opportu-nity for involvement.
You might be surprised to know that we have over 33 ministries and organizations at St. Bene-dict’s! There is truly something for everyone. We have struc-tured our ministries to accom-modate all parishioners, from those who have very little time to offer to those who desire greater involvement. This infor-mative day at St. B’s will allow you to select an opportunity to serve Christ that will fit your schedule and interests. Christ calls all of us to do ser-vice in His name (To prepare God’s people for works of ser-vice, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Eph. 4:12) Therefore I hope that you will all come out for this festive day to discover how to become more connected and involved in our ministry together.
On your marks, get set…RALLY!

Jonathan Daniels Pilgrimage
There will be a celebration of the life and death of Jonathan Myrick Daniels on Sat., Aug. 9, 2008 in Hayneville, AL. Jonathan Daniels was an Episcopal seminarian who was shot and killed in Hayneville while working in the Civil Rights Movement in 1965. The General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 1991 designated Jonathan Myrick Daniels a martyr, and he is commemorated in the calendar of the Episcopal Church on Aug. 14th. On Sat., Aug. 9, 2008, you are invited to gather on the Courthouse Square in Hayneville at 11:00 AM. There will be a procession to the jail, to the store where he was martyred, then returning to the memorial on the square. At each site, there will be prayer, scripture readings and singing, then everyone will go into the Courthouse where an ecumenical celebration of the Holy Communion will be celebrated. Contact?

Behold Who You Are: A guided silent retreat with
St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church Do you not know that you are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells within you? I Corinthians 3:16 St. Augustine of Hippo gives us a deeply reflective and challenging image to describe our identity as the Beloved Children of God. In life, we often strug-gle to find a time to rest in the richness of our identity. Whether we are strug-gling with grief, family issues, health concerns, or the basic “busyness” of life, we can find hope and peace in this simple and profound prayer: “Behold Who You Are.” On Thur., Aug.. 28 please join us for a guided silent retreat at the Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center at 6700 Riverside Drive, NW, Atlanta, GA 30328. It runs from 9am - 4pm and costs $25 per person (includes drinks, snacks & lunch). Register at www. MySaintB.org or call The Rev. Stuart Higginbotham at 678.279. 4303. Please mark your checks for “Behold Who You Are Retreat”.
