Economic Overview• The Financial Year October 2010 - September 2011, (Year 2010-11), started with the potential of a good
economic recovery after the global slowdown of 2008 and 2009• But, rising inflation in the country has become a big point of worry for the Government and the Finance Ministry
& the RBI decided to increase interest rates substantially to stem the impact of inflation.• This rise in interest rates has resulted in a complete slowdown in credit off-take for infrastructure projects, as
these projects struggle to show viability to their bankers.
Growth in Order Book (INR mn) over the years…
CAGR (FY-07 – 11) : @23%
Industry review• As WIL is in the Capital Goods space, this
slowdown in infrastructure projects has adirect impact on the new order booking for theCompany.
• Cement business continued to be lean ascustomers were not able to arrange for financefor their projects.
• The business in Aerospace, Defence andNuclear Power segment also got impacted; dueto delay in clearances and long manufacturingcycles of these products
Financial year 2010-11 in retrospective
12
Total Income (INR mn)
CAGR (FY-07 – 11) : @11%
Highest revenue of Rs 964 crores with exports ofRs 137 crores in FY 10-11
Growing demand pull from customers, especiallyin the sugar, boiler and power project business.
The strong sales performance in the year 2010–2011 has given the Company reasons to havefavorable outlook for the next year:
Strong Order book as on September 30,2011, which stands at Rs. 2205 Crores.
Strong business outlook in the Aerospace,Defence and Nuclear power segment. Thisbusiness lends long term sustainability to therevenue model of the Company.
Since Dollar is becoming strong, value ofRupee realization from exports will beremunerative and Company will be givingthrust for export market.
Continued focus & efforts to build on thecurrent strong order book position of theCompany.
