WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?
DATABASE DAY – Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning
We are planning to have a general database introduction to the warbler database on Tuesday, presented by our new Database manager, Owen Howison. This may be useful for sparrow people and PIs as well!!!! BRING YOUR OWN COMPUTER WITH ACCESS.
Monday we can either work on questions that people have about the warbler database (please prepare if you have anything!) or solving issues etc. All depending on how much we have also done already during regular dataface meetings. We are checking with Ian whether it is useful to have a meeting with him, but that is still in planning stage.
TALKS
All warbler and sparrow post-docs and PhD students should give a talk. We have 30 minutes allocated for each talk (plus 5 minutes buffer), so everybody can discuss general and specific issues together. Please keep your talk to 20 minutes, so we can have plenty of time for discussion. Please check the preliminary talk title by your allocated slot below.
PI MEETINGS
PI Meetings are 30 minutes, and are for issues that you don’t have time for during your talk, or about things you don’t think everybody is interested in*. They are 30 minutes, and it’s really important that we don’t overrun with these or somebody ends up losing time; you will be cut off by a singing warbler (maybe). PhD students and post-docs: you should prepare a list of discussion points that you want to discuss with the PIs!!!
PARA SESSIONS
To make sure we are as productive as possible, all warbler (and if wanted HS) PhDs and postdocs are required to lead one para session. You can do whatever you like - practice an extra talk, present an analytical problem you want help with, bring up a specific database issue, lead a discussion on data, etc. etc. You can prepare a powerpoint presentation if you like, but it’s not mandatory. You have an allocated para session slot during somebody’s PI meeting (meaning some or all PIs won’t be there). Please make sure you have prepared something and put in a preliminary title by your name below if it is not there yet.
Also make sure that everybody you’d want in your parasession can be there and is not occupied with PI meetings!!!! If needed, find somebody to swap with you.
OUTING
We will join the ASAB outing: BRING SOLID FOOTWEAR, WARM CLOTHS AND WATERPROOFS
