Berkvens
Berkvens doors & frames is recognized as a leading manufacturer of interior doors, in-
terior doorframes and sliding door systems for healthcare, hospitality, education, offices
and residential markets throughout Europe. A policy of continuous investment in product
research, development and innovation, combined with total quality control, has ensured
Berkvens’ position of strength in the European market. Berkvens is part of Xidoor Holding,
a group of doors and frames manufacturers.
Why Berkvens
Fact: bacteria are omnipresent. At home, in public places, healthcare facilities or hospitals; they
are our companions for life. As triggers for allergies and infections they present a constant and
serious risk to both patients and staff in all care facilities. Add to this the increasing demands on
the durability of building material. The result is intensively used spaces and passageways that
have to endure high volumes of large equipment as well as high movement of individuals, often
moving at a frantic pace.
This can present some critical problems for healthcare work environments: including operating
rooms, nursing homes, or medical research centers. These are all the places where Berkvens
doors & frames healthcare solutions set the standard where others follow.
When Berkvens doors are in place, everyone using the environment is safeguarded; patients
can recover safely insulated from outside bacteria and allergens, those in care are protected
from the possibility of incubating bacteria often found in the cracks of other doors, and staff are
able to work more efficiently as they do not have to be worried in critical times about spreading
bacteria through damaged doors as Berkvens doors are damage resistant and impervious to
dangerous bacteria. At Berkvens the health and safety of all inside these care environments is
our paramount consideration for all products going to care facilities.Berkvens doors and frames
leads the way for healthcare because WE CARE.

Fitec
Fitec is a unique substitute material for hardwood framework, resulting in an significantly more
environmentally friendly door. It is composite sheet material developed in-house for use in fire
resistant doors. Doors with Fitec are mixed label FSC (70%). Fitec consists of various layers of
fire resistant and moisture proof material. In this process, a patented dehydrated expansion com-
pound is applied between the layers. This compound links the different layers and in the event
of fire rapidly expands under pressure to provide an effective seal between the door and frame.

1. Avento
1.5 mm steel mounting frame
Arobust frame that is well suited for intensive use.
Additionally, one of the frame’s most unique features
is that it will fit virtually any opening. Avento frames
are 1.5 mm steel mounting frames for both flush and rebated doors, and they can be supplied
with a line profile if required. This method gives the frame the sturdiness of a built-in frame,
whilst retaining all the advantages of a mounted frame.
Avento is supplied with its own hinges and is powder coated (60 to 70 μ), making all colors
possible.
2. Avento FF (foam fix)
The Avento is a self leveling doorframe with a tolerance of
-/- 2 and +/+ 5 mm. As an example, a frame with a nominal
dimension of 100 mm can therefore be supplied for a wall
thickness of 98 – 105 mm. The frame is anchored to the
wall by 3 fixing claws per post. The claws are 150 mm in
length. They have no set-screw or similar device. During
installation, the clamp slides over the wall and will auto-
clamp itself to the wall. The frame can then be adjusted.
Once the frame is leveled, holes are provided at the
height of the claws, for the purpose of introducing the
polyurethane foam into the frame. The amount of polyurethane foam can vary from between
0.3 and 0.7 litres per frame. This will be sufficient to firmly fix the frame. The jambs are supplied
with a protective foil cover. This is required to protect the frame from damage as there will be
polyurethane foam spillage. Once the foam has set, the foil is easily removed.
3. High performance door frames
The interior steel door frames from Berkvens consist
of both standard as well as customised door frames
in all kinds of versions, with fan light, side light and
a combination of both. With regard to the thickness
of the material, the basic options available are 1.5
mm and 2.00 mm. Other thicknesses are available
on request. In the fire resistance area, an extensive
range is available in both 30 as well as 60 minutes fire
resistance. All of the above is available in combination
with the wooden interior doors from the Berkvens
range.
What makes the Berkvens door frames special are the ‘refined’ corners; there is no chink,
mitre or corner joint visible in the corners, which makes the frames look like they are one solid
component. Ultimate aesthetic refinement. In addition to the univalve build-in frames, a bivalve
mounting frame is also available. Ideal in situations where walls already exist. These frames can
be placed in an existing wall without any visible connection points or mitre joints. These are also
available in 30 and 60 minute fire resistance.
Berkopal high performance door
The extra long life and endurance of Berkopal doors are due to the robust and scratch resistant HPL (high pres-
sure laminate) sheets used for each door. The exceptionally wide range is particularly suitable for commercial
projects, healthcare and high traffic area’s, where specialist individual specifications are an important demand.
Berkopal doors can also be delivered in a wide range of colors, structures and designs. This makes a Berkopal
door a durable, practical and stylish addition to any interior.

Colors
As color and design are inextricably linked, our
multi-color concept EPIC edge can be produced
in virtually any color. RAL and NCS color systems
can be fine-tuned in any combination. At Berkvens,
we think that every door deserves its own color, so
why should the edging be any different? It can be
a contrasting color or a color complementary to the
HPL. Imagination is the only limit to the possibilities
for finishing, metallics can even be selected in
bronze, gold, silver, etc. Virtually all color requests
can be produced.
Colorfast
Not all doors for a project are produced at the same
time.. However, at Berkvens, our process ensures
that even doors from different productions will
have matching colors, with not even the slightest
deviation. Sequencing is a necessary part of the
process ensuring no color deviations between
productions. Our craftsmen are able to balance
colors with such precision that mismatches are
eliminated. EPIC edge is colorfast and is not affected
by UV exposure. Additionally, any scratches or
damage that may occur will not show, as they color
is the same on surface and interior of the edge.
Optional
The hygenic, ultimate door edge protection
EPIC edge is a polyurethane lippings moulded to the edge of a door.
This edge finishing forms a seamless whole with the door, sealing the fabric
of the door off from bacterial penetration. The edging has the additional
attraction of enhancing the impact and chip resistance of the finish.
Advanced hygiene
Less contamination and infection is likely as the seamless finish and the pore
tight nature of the edging ensure that the edge of the door is completely
sealed off to bacteria. Bacteria simply cannot penetrate. This makes the edge
of the door is easy to keep clean and non-static.
Extended lifespan
Protecting the door with EPIC edge will extend its lifespan and reduce the
costs of maintenance. EPIC edge is a durable, flexible and energy absorbing
seal. This ensures the door edging has a high level of chip and impact
resistance.

EPICcleanroomdoor
A high performance door with applied molded
EPIC edge can be produced 30 or 60 minutes
fire resistant. An Epic edge fire rated door is
not only the most hygienic solution, but also
provides added safety in the unfortunate event
of fire.
In the event of fire, the EPIC edge lipping will
not shrink or melt away from the rest of the
door. Rather the material used will expand to
fill any gaps, after which it will carbonize. This
has been proven very effective in various fire
safety tests.

The radiation resistant doorset of Berkvens protects your staff from the possible effects of
X-rays. The combined assembly of door, frame, hinges and lock makes the X-ray doorset a
secure, radiation resistant solution.
Radiation proof frame
Radiation leakage is prevented by lead sheets
that are inserted and fixed crosswise. This is
also being applied to the frame, providing a
seamless door and frame solution. Additionally,
we use radiation resistant hinges and locks in
the doorset.
Lock
By definition, a radiation resistant lock is
required to be asymmetrical as it is the only
guarantee of keeping the door leak proof. The
layers of lead in the lock overlap, whilst the
lock remains 100% functional.
Berkopal radiation proof
The door can also be provided with a vision panel
which uses special radiation resistant glass and

Bacteria growth without Duropal microplus ®
Bacteria growth with Duropal microplus ®
Antibacterial HPL surface for superior
hygiene
The integrated protection of this surface
neutralizes, permanently and effectively,
the ability of bacteria to grow and multiply.
Duropal microplus® quickly ensures physical
penetration of the bacterium cell wall. Thanks
to even distribution, this finish is present and
effective throughout the surface, and remains
effective for the duration of the product
life cycle, even under the most demanding
conditions. There is no transfer or emission to,
for example, foods or into the air.
Hygienic varnish
The hygienic varnish can be applied to any
veneer. The veneer will be sealed from external
penetration and bacteria will be rejected,
preventing them from flourishing, multiplying
or being spread to anything coming into
contact with the surface. The hygienic varnish
permits the veneer to radiate its natural
warmth into the space, making it possible to
specify wood veneers for high traffic locations
such as hospitals and care homes, creating
and enhancing an atmosphere of comfort.
HC3 for prevention
HC3 contains an innovative photo-catalytic element in lieu of chemicals
or silver ions. Under UV light this element acts as a catalyst, employing a
physical mechanism for breaking down simple organisms (bacteria, viruses,
organic waste). Water and carbon dioxide are the only remaining residues.
• no accumulation of toxic residue
• no source of sustenance for the next wave of bacteria
• no diminishing effectiveness of the coating
• self cleaning
• robust and durable
Silver ion
Door handles are by their very nature intensively used in high traffic locations.
These are touched by numerous people throughout the day, facilitating
the opportunity for micro-organisms, bacteria and mould to spread. Simply
touching the handle, will transfer bacteria. However, when bacteria come into
direct contact with silver ions, they are absorbed, neutralizing the effect and
ensuring the handle can no longer be a contamination source. Silver ions
prevent the growth, spread and transfer of dangerous microbes and bacteria.
