ANNUAL REPORT 2014
INTRODUCTION
PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus (Promociòn Claretiana para el Desarrollo) is a non-profit Foundation for international solidarity legally constituted in Rome in November 2006. PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus belongs to an international network of NGOs based in European and North American countries actively cooperating with the Claretian Missionaries in the developing world.
NEW LOGO
This year 2014 we have changed the logo or the Foundation, as it can be seen in this report. We tried to have a more modern and significant logo.
OUR MISSION, VISION AND GOALS
5
ANNUAL REPORT 2014
As an expression of the Claretian activism and social commitment, PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus is the international focal point for the coordination of Claretian projects, promoting and exploring new partnerships and funding channels at international level.
The mission of PROCLADE Internazionale is to promote, together with the Claretian counterpart, the development of the most disadvantaged peoples in terms of human well-being, integral development of the individuals, solidity of communities, justice and peace. This is achieved by providing expertise in the identification, formulation and presentation of project proposals, supporting the missionaries in all phases of the project cycle. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the project proposals, as well as clarity and transparency in funding management, the Foundation operates as a direct link between the donor and the beneficiary group, constantly cooperating with the field managers both for project identification/formulation and for the presentation of interim - and final - financial, narrative and evaluation reports.
6
ANNUAL REPORT 2014
Activities are carried out in the respect of the civil and social rights of the citizens of developing countries. The vision leading our activities and commitment makes us act day to day with a view to the construction of justice, peace and development for everyone, especially where violence, social marginalization, economical hardships, health and educational deprivation undermine the development of the human being.
The goals of the Foundation are the social promotion and international solidarity towards developing countries. Our objective is twofold, in the developing countries PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus aims at strengthening the cooperation with the peoples in need, fostering their civil and social rights through the promotion of human welfare, the integral development of the individuals, justice and peace; in industrialized countries our purpose is to encourage and enhance social voluntary service for the citizens’ human growth and awareness, so as to reach a tangible international solidarity and cooperation.
PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus avails itself of a community of around 3,000 Claretian Missionaries disseminated in 62 different countries and divided into in 34

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND STAFF
The ordinary and extraordinary administration of PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus is in the hands of the Board of Directors constituted by the President – who is also the Legal Representative - the Vice President and four counsellors. The Board of Directors meet twice a year.
As far as its operational functions, PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus currently employs one full-time project coordinator in charge of all phases of PCM (Project Cycle Management), from design to evaluation in close cooperation with the local project managers in the field who are, in turn, recipients of the needs of the beneficiaries and of all stakeholders of Claretian projects, the real owners of any Claretian project.
Specific duties of the coordinator include networking with the local project managers and providing guidance on the needs analysis so as to carry out an

adequate feasibility study for each single action; identification of donors and calls for proposals; the production of narrative and financial project papers and of supporting documentation; the coordination of all involved stakeholders; the constant monitoring of the project in implementation in the respect of deadlines and of the single project contract; the production of interim and final reports - narrative and financial papers - for the donor agencies. Additional tasks include the management of databases and the elaboration of informative material.
ACTIVITIES
In order to achieve its mission and goals, PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus carries out the following major activities:
Provision of expertise in the various phases of the project cycle, providing 12

support in the identification, formulation and presentation of project proposals to a vast range of donors.
Contribution to the creation of a culture of solidarity with actions of public awareness and development education.
Lobby governments at local, national, European and International level and International Organisations of international cooperation.
Cooperate with other agencies that share the same commitment and objectives for the promotion of the well-being of the individual.
OUR TARGET GROUP
While supporting the Claretian communities located in developing countries, our target group always belongs to the most vulnerable and marginalised sections of society. PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus and the local counterpart therefore focus their actions for the human development of women, children, the elderly, the disabled, HIV/AIDS patients, the unemployed, alcohol and drug addicts, ethnic minorities and

other disadvantaged groups of people. Special attention is given to young people, with formal and informal training and skills acquisition for the creation of employment and of a culture of active participation and cooperation.
AREAS OF INTERVENTION

education/awareness; Rural programmes with a focus on water and irrigation, animal husbandry

Transportation: purchase of vehicles and transportation means (cars, motorbikes, bicycles).
In all our projects we always consider crosscutting issues such as gender equality, human rights, good governance and environmental sustainability as they are essential for any balanced and effective development project. The methodology used in the identification, formulation and implementation of a project is bottom-up as we consider beneficiary communities the real authors and owners of their own development strategy.

SOURCES OF FUNDING
Activities are co-funded by private benefactors and donor agencies. Funds are sent to the Claretian missions in developing countries in order to carry out social and socio-community development projects.
Christian-inspired funding agencies are the major sources of funding for the projects implemented by PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus. The project coordinator, on the basis of the material provided by the local Claretian counterpart, elaborates a project proposal with descriptive and financial sections. Grants are sanctioned after the single project is assessed and approved by the agency. Funds are dispatched in one or more instalments and the budget allocation, as well as the correct implementation of activities, are constantly monitored and reported halfway through and at project conclusion. Since some agencies request a direct contact with the field, in certain cases despite having contributed to the elaboration and presentation of the project PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus is not registered as the official partner and therefore it is not involved in the transfer of funds.
Financial help is also provided by the other European NGOs cooperating with the Claretian missions and by the richest communities of the Claretians that collect funds through fundraising events. From a financial perspective, until year 1990 it was relatively easy for the European and North American Claretian communities to send financial help to missions in developing countries as the majority of rich communities was supporting a minority of poor ones. However, in the last two decades, there has been a constant increase in the number of Claretian communities in developing countries coupled with a reduction in the ones in the North of the world, hence new sources of funding need to be searched. This is where PROCLADE Internazionale Onlus steps in. In certain cases, as for the private agencies described above, after the presentation of the project it is established a direct contact between the Claretian donor and the field.
Additional sources of funding are spontaneous donations from private citizens that are collected throughout the year with fundraising campaigns such as the organisation of exhibitions and cultural events.
In the financial plan there is always a local contribution from the Claretian counterpart and from the local people thus showing the commitment of the implementing partner and of the beneficiaries for the achievement of the planned objectives. The local contribution is divided into a share provided by the local Claretian community and by a share provided by the local population. This contribution is proportional to the financial possibilities of the local community and of the people, this is why this contribution is part cash and part in-kind in the form of land, use of facilities and equipment, provision of services, labour or material.

ANNUAL REPORT 2014
FUNDS SENT TO PROJECTS IN 2014
From January to December 2014 the funds transferred to the Claretian missions of Africa, Asia and Latin America has amounted to a total of 113,450 Euro. This amount includes all sources of funding (external agencies, Claretian contributions, donations). There is a great difference from last year, mainly due to two reasons:
The amount sent by Proclade Yanapay (Spain) for sponsorships corresponding to 2014 (65.000 Euro) arrived at the end of December and it cannot be included as a disbursement in this financial period, like past year. It will appear in 2015.
The international economic crisis is causing that agencies and particulars donate less money
The following table shows the origin of funds:
