WelcometoEnglish1A,FreshmanComposition!Regardlessofyourmajororchosenprofession,youwillinevitablyneedtoknowhowtocommunicateeffectivelyforyoursituationandaudience.Tothatend,wewillbeworkingonhoningyouracademicreading,writing,speaking,andresearchskills.Inaddition,youwillalsobecallinguponyourcriticalandcreativethinkingskillsasweintegrateapieceofliteratureintoourcourse.Beforewegoanyfurther,Iwishtomakeacoupleofthingsclear:
1. Iamonyourside.Regardlessofwhatevergradeorfeedbackyoureceivefromme,knowthatIamalwaysrootingforyoursuccess.However,itoftentakesmanyattemptsatsomethingbeforeyou’regoodatit,right?Thisbringsmetothenextpoint.

Youneedtocommit,rightnow,toputtinginthework.IntheageofSnapsandTinder,Igetthatit’sdifficulttocommit,butitshouldbeeasytomakeacommitmenttoyourself.Itwilltakeyoumanyhoursofreadingandwritingpracticebeforeyourskillsareatthestandardcollegelevel.It’sjustlikehowsingerswillpracticeforhoursuponhourstohitthoseperfectnotes.Beyoncemaywakeup#flawless,butyouknowshepracticeshercrafteveryday.That’soneofthekeystosuccess:consistentpractice.
