What Makes A Leader?
Summer WorkshopsMath and Science Content and Pedagogy
Deepen mathematics and science content knowledge, including the specialized knowledge needed for teaching (i.e., knowledge of learning trajectories, ability to purposefully select and adapt instructional materials).
Deepen pedagogical content knowledge including
ohow students learn various content and processes/practices,
ocurriculum standards and instructional materials, and
oassessment for learning.
Increased Student Engagement in Mathematical and Scientific Reasoning,
Sense Making, and Inquiry
Teachers consistently use research-based instructional practices that develop deeper understanding of mathematics and science engaging students in the following processes/ practices:
observing, questioning, predicting, conjecturing, testing, and generalizingproviding both explanations and justifications for thinking/reasoningusing multiple representationsengaging in metacognitionmaking connections
Increased Student Achievement
Increase the percentage of students who show proficiency on statewide mathematics and science assessments as well as classroom-based work samples.
Decreased Achievement Gaps
Equity in mathematics and science achievement levels attained by students regardless of ethnicity, gender, language, and socio-economic status.
Ongoing Mathematics and Science Professional Learning
Do and study mathematics and science together as adult learners.
Collaboratively plan for student engagement in mathematical and scientific reasoning, sense making, and inquiry.
Examine teaching and the impact on student learning.
Instructional Leadership
Deepen understanding of adult learning.
Develop knowledge and skills for facilitating collegial learning (e.g., protocols and tools that support collaborative lesson planning, examination of student work, analysis of teaching).
