Welcome To The 52 Week Organized Home Challenge & Declutter 365 Daily Missions for 2017!
Hi, my name is Taylor Flanery, and I want to thank you so much for being a subscriber to the Home Storage Solutions 101 newsletter. As of this writing there are already over 140,000 subscribers who want to get their homes organized and decluttered this year, just like you.
I’ve been running this 52 Week Organized Home Challenge for quite a while now, this is the 6th year in fact, and while I provide the resources and the plan, you do the work to make it succeed. And yes, you can succeed! I have watched as so many participants in the challenge have transformed their homes and their lives with these simple steps and daily habits. That’s why I know it can work, and also what keeps me motivated to keep running this challenge and the missions year after
year.
What’s Included In This Free Gift?
I hope you enjoy your free gifts which I’ve attached. They include:
• List of all 52 of the Organized Home Challenges for 2017 • 2017 Declutter Calendar with daily 15 minute missions
So How Do The Challenges & Daily Missions Work?
The weekly challenges and daily missions are designed to work, in tandem, to help you get your home decluttered and organized, slowly, over the course of a year.
As a subscriber you’ll get each week’s Challenge sent directly into your email inbox every Monday morning, as a friendly reminder. Each challenge has a different focus, typically a room or type of item to
get organized during that week, such as the kitchen or your kids’ toys. Sometimes though the weekly challenge focuses on a habit I think you should adopt, such as meal planning, making a laundry schedule, etc., which can make your life and home run more smoothly.
A key component of actually getting organized is decluttering various spaces in your home. That’s why I also created the daily missions. As much as possible I’ve tried to assign a decluttering task that corresponds with that week’s challenge, so while we’re working on organizing the kitchen with the challenges we’ll also be doing kitchen decluttering missions, for example. It’s not a perfect match with all missions, but I tried to make it correspond as much as possible.
Why Does It Take A Whole Year?
Why does my challenge and missions take a full year? That’s a good question. I like quick results. We all do. But after working on my own home for years I’ve concluded that it’s not realistic for deep down fundamental change to happen overnight.
First, most of us don’t have loads of time to invest in organizing and decluttering. In fact, the busyness of our lives is one of the things that’s contributed to many of our disorganized frazzled lives (or it has for me anyway). So, being more realistic with the amount of time we can invest to make a change is important.
Second, even if we got the magic elves to come in and completely organize and declutter our homes tonight as we slept there is a real possibility that all that organization would descend back down into chaos again quickly, and the clutter would pile back up. That reality stinks, but it’s true.
The reason for this is that while you can make a big organizational or decluttering push, it is the little actions you take, every single day, either positive or negative, which ultimately impact whether you feel like your life and home is organized and under control, or not. It’s all a matter of habits. So another reason to go slow is to allow you to create new habits for yourself and your home so once it gets organized it stays that way!
What’s New In 2017 For This Challenge & Missions?
As I mentioned before this is the sixth year I’ve run this challenge, and each year I try to improve it and make it better, and this year is no different.
Adding A Few New Missions
This year I’ve combined a few missions that I’ve found we didn’t need to spend quite as much time on, and also added a few new ones about digital clutter, dealing with personal memorabilia, and even a small focus on storage lockers and rooms outside the home.
What Should I Do Now?
You’ve decided to embark on a journey toward a more organized and clutter free home. Congratulations. 2017 can be your year to finally get organized! So, here’s what you need to do next:
1. Join The Declutter 365 Facebook Group
In 2015 I created a Declutter 365 Facebook group because so many of you requested it, and I’ve now been running it for 2 years, and it’s been a great success. There’s now over 130,000 members!
In this group I post the daily mission each morning to help remind you what the calendar says to do, plus it is a place for you to get ideas and encouragement from other group members to keep you motivated and moving forward. And best of all, it’s FREE!
Click here to join the Declutter 365 Facebook Group Today!
I also post the daily missions each morning in the following places:
• Instagram on my @taylorflanery account (here’s the link to follow me: https://www.instagram.com/taylorflanery/)
• Twitter @HomeStorage101 (here’s the link to follow me: https://twitter.com/HomeStorage101)
2. Print The 2017 Calendar So You’ve Got A Plan To Follow
Next, print (or save onto your computer if you don’t want the paper clutter) this schedule and 2017 calendar so you’ve got a plan to follow. The weekly emails, and Facebook group if you choose to join, will provide gentle reminders, but being able to reference an overall plan and see where we’re headed is invaluable.
Keep the plan visible, if possible. Many successful participants told me they posted the calendars and schedule
on their refrigerator so they could see it all the time and be reminded.
3. Whitelist Or Mark As Trusted My Email Address So You’ll Keep Getting My Emails
Each week, on Monday, I will send you the organizational challenge for the week via email. Make sure you get it, and any other emails I send (typically I send a couple others during the week as well) by going into your email provider and marking as “safe” or “trusted” or “whitelisted” my email address. In addition, if you’ve got a Gmail account you may want to move my emails out of the promotional tab so they come into your main email inbox.
This is my email address (it’s the one you received this PDF link from): [email protected]
4. Stay In Touch With Me!
Finally, stay in touch with me. I really do want to hear how it’s going, your feedback and ideas. So here’s where you can find me. The official hashtag for the decluttering missions is #Declutter365.
