Do you have a desire to join our Parish Religious Education Program? We have many wonderful people who are serving our children as catechists, aides, hall monitors, checking attendance and in many other ways being available for the needs of our parish. If you feel in your heart a desire to join our community of PREP teachers, please call me or send me an email. I will be happy to meet you. Everyone is welcome but in a very spe-cial way we would like to invite young people. Bring your energy to our community and enjoy with us sharing our faith with the children. We have one very young adult and it would be great to have more college students who will en-rich us with enthusiasm and joy. All of our teachers are spreading the Kingdom of God’s love and serving the little ones with a great dedication. I would like to thank them all for being open. Their answer to God’s invitation to serve the children is very joyful and full of compassion. If you are a mother of small children – be sure we will ad-just to your schedule. If you are a father who is very busy and tired having other commitments – come and tell us which time possibly you would offer to us. If you are not available on weekly basis, we can use your presence as a substitute teacher. Our children are waiting for you to answer the call.

Without a good shepherd to lead them, sheep would get hurt or

Sunday Reflection “I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life
for the sheep.” Today’s Gospel begins with these words from
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also reminds us that
other shepherds may think the flock exists for them, but for
Jesus, he lives and dies for the sheep―for us. As our Easter season continues, we are prompted to keep in
mind what the Lord sacrificed for us. St. Peter’s words from
the Acts of the Apostles echo this theme. “He (Jesus) is the
stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cor-
ner stone. There is no salvation through anyone else.” Peter’s
message to us is unambiguous: there is only one way to deliv-
erance and that is by means of the Lord. Peter preaches Jesus,
the crucified Jesus, and preaches as much for us for those wit-
nessing him. In our second reading, St. John uses the phrase “children of
God.” This phrase demands a relationship from us and has to
do with how we relate to our Father God and how we interact
with our siblings. We must reach out, share, and love in action
all those with whom we know and meet. As the “children of
God” we become the family of God. John writes. “We shall
see him (Christ) as he is.” We will not only be with Jesus; we
will be like him. That is the deepest meaning of our salvation. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, but our lives may well be filled
with many “shepherds,” many who will truly sacrifice all for
us. Jesus’ love for us as reflected by the image of the Good
Shepherd calls us to try to be a shepherd to our friends, our family, all with whom we may come in contact. At the end of his book, Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis says,
“Keep back nothing. Nothing you have not given away will
ever be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever
be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find
in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and
decay. But look for Christ and you will find him, everything
else thrown in.”
