Rourou
• A rourou or food basket is for one to put kai (food) into
• The strands that have been woven in and out of the rourou has been used as a visual to demonstrate my philosophy of classroom management
• These are; te reo & tikanga, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, ako, and holistic
Kai
• The kai is the food that goes into the rourou
• The kai represents my strategies which are part of my philosophy and give a form of sustenance for my future students
• They are; positive learning environment, the ripple effect, overlapping, smooth transitions, routines & protocols, eye contact, signals, questions, withitness, scanning and moving the space and meeting in a circle
Iwi
• Iwi means a tribe of people, and is the overall goal for this whakatauki
• The iwi represents my future students and are the essence of my kaupapa (topic)
• Students are the recipients of what I put into my rourou (food basket)
