WHAT IS POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME???Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOD is a chronic hormonal and metabolic disorder and is one of the most common disorders occuring in women in their reproductive years. It is thought that 4 to 10% of all women have PCOD.PCOD is assuming epidemic proportions among women of India due to its correlation with obesity which is also on the rise.PCOD can be defined as: Amennorhia and/or Anovultion, clinical and biochemical hyperandrogenism and Presence of polycystic ovaries.In case of PCOD, ovaries are larger than normal and there are a series of underdeveloped follicles that appear as clumps . When these cysts cause a hormonal imbalance ,pattern of symptoms may develop.PCOD is a metabolic disorder because there are numerous factors in basic body process that have gone off track , thus it is a dysfunction that is related to whole body and not just ovaries.

Symptoms of PCOD: ANOVULATION OR ABSENCE OF MENSES ACNE HIRSUTISM: which is excessive hair on face, chest, back and toes.

INSULIN RESISTANCE OBESITY TYPE 2 DIABETES ALOPENIA: which is balding. INFERTILITY: OR INABILITY TO CONCIEVE. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE HIGH CHOLESTEROL DEPRESSION
