August; appropriately named after a Roman emperor who was known for his love of fun days out. But back then the most fun dear Augustus could have was watching gladiators knock each other around or chariots throw their riders to the dust. Sounds dull.
Fortunately there’s a bit more happening in modern-day York and the good news is that nobody has to fall out of a chariot. highlights have to be the galtres Festival, the many events of Yorkshire day and dandy dick at the grand opera house. plus, the new valhalla exhibition at Jorvik viking centre will reveal all about viking burial, and the world sweetcorn eating championships at York maze will
provide plenty of laughs!
model fans should head to the driffi eld steam and vintage rally and the elvington model air show, and if you’re a rock ‘n’ roller then you should make your way to the rock Back the clock event at new earswick Bowls club. and who doesn’t like mickey mouse? newby hall will be hosting a performance featuring the big cheese himself – a must for all children between fi ve and 11.
no matter what your interest, there’ll be something here to make your stay in the city fantastic. head to our events section to fi nd out more!
We who are about to have fun salute you!
WELCOME TO YORK!
